The characters were truly horrible people, yet at the same time lovable. The book was captivating, well written, and just a lot of fun. I’ll definitely be reading the sequel.
Read this as a buddy read with my Dad and we loved it so much. Published in 1992, a book about time travel and a pandemic was both eerie and comical to read after 2020. A science fiction book I normally wouldn’t have picked up if it weren’t for my Dad, and now looking forward to reading the sequel.
The story goes back and forth between Kivrin, a historian traveling back in time to Oxford in 1320, and present day Oxford during an influenza epidemic. Kind of a dark academia/pandemic/plague novel. Would highly recommend.

Although I did enjoy the book, it was fast paced and unique, I didn’t find it quite as witty as I was lead to believe it would be.
