I had really really high hopes for this books and to say it was a let down would be an understatement. In the description is was said to be a “Outlander”-esque story. And Outlander is one of my fave series! But Outlander this was not and Kane was no Jamie Fraser. And I think that’s where the expectations got off on the wrong foot. The only thing in common this had with Outlander was the fact the FMC “time traveled” to another time/dimension.

I found Hannah to be really really annoying. I get she was trying to “find herself” and like change her life. But she sounded so whiny and mopey 90% of the time. The only time I tolerated her was when she was Towerfall and hanging out with Marion. But also her time in Towerfall felt like a whole lotta nothing was happening except her having sexual tension with Kane. Who also was annoying. Book boyfriend he is not. The brooding, mysterious tall dark and handsome MMC wasn’t happening with this one. Also the two of them didn’t spend enough time together to make their “romance” believable. He sees her naked one and now has “uncontrollable thirst” for her? No thanks.

This was a “meh” for me. The beginning was promising, it lost me in the middle, and the ending was rushed.

Liked this one way more than “Ravishing a Rogue”. Lowell was a little too whiny for me. But that was the whole point of his character. For a werewolf/monster erotica romance…it was good! Don’t know if I’ll read more by the author though…

This one was…ok. Like it wasn’t good, it wasn’t bad. It was enjoyable and the voice actors were good so it made the audiobook enjoyable. But I feel that if I had read this, instead of listening, this would be more lack luster.

The story felt surface level and overall “stereotypical”. It was the class:
- second chance
- miscommunication trope
- “you’re better off without me”/“I’ll only hurt you”
- groveling man

Romance. So if you want something fluffy and light to listen to (or read) this one is a good option.

So outside of the Voice Actors voices for the two main characters. This was a good ““monster erotica” romance. The womans voice sounded like she was a witch reading a book to children, and it took me out of the story any time she talked. And the male speaking for the woman was just too high pitched. It was a sensory overload at times

It’s no secret that the two series that JLA has created are high favorites of mine. I love them, most because of Sera and Poppy being bad ass FMCs and plus size on top of that.

But this book….oh my god, I picked it up. Put it down, paused it, unpaused it. I couldn’t get through it. And it wasn’t till nearly 50% of the book that I realized why….I didn’t give two shits about Kolis or anything related to him.

The moment that annoying ass psychopathic man waltzed into this book - I hated him. And Callum, fuck him too. If I had to read any more about his he was psychotically “in love” with Sotoria I was gonna ram my head through a wall.

I scanned through to find the exact spot Ash comes back into the picture just to give myself motivation. And amazingly the moment I did - finished the book in a week.

And the moment we got back to Ash and Sera I was back into the story, the plot and everything else. And I know that’s bad - cause Kolis is the big conflict. But I felt I was reading the same scene over and over again during Sera’s time with him.

The scene (and no spoilers) between Ash and Sera in the lake toward the end of the book - oh it almost brought tears to my eyes it was so emotional. And then the AFTER. I had to put the book down cause one second I’m panicking, then I’m stressed, then I was crying, and then it was getting steamy.

Now time for the last book - so sad this series is ending. Rumors are FBAA is becoming a show. I would love that but I fear it’ll be butchered and I’ll hate it. ESPECIALLY if Poppy isn’t plus sized!!
