objectively all decent poems, but not really my cup of tea. i was a little disappointed bc i think she’s an incredible lyricist and there were only a handful of poems that really stuck out to me and did it. but this was a really candid collection of thoughts and feelings and i could tell it was very personal and vulnerable, which i love in art. so 3 stars for miss halsey

i will never understand why hemingway has gone down in history as such a renowned american writer. i have always had trouble picking apart and finding whatever ✨symbolism✨ lies in his bland writing. yes i read it, no i didn’t comprehend it, can’t wait to talk about it in class for 3 hours

i had really high hopes for this book, but i honestly was not a fan. i was excited to see the trojan war through briseis’ point of view, but i felt like the story still ended up being so centered around achilles. i thought the themes of brutality against women, their deaths, and their enslavements was going to be touched upon more often, but it only came in waves (to be fair, it was very honest when it did come). i think i could have done without the change in POV from briseis’ first person to ✨third person unlimited✨ because it just took away from what i anticipated the story to be about.

i feel so brave for not giving up on this
