I enjoyed this book. Very cute and set in Charleston which is fun as a Charleston girl.
Female main character is fighting for her independence and paving her own way in life as a woman with a disability (epilepsy), and has a service dog, Charlie. Love Charlie, such a good boy. Male main character has commitment issues after a bad divorce, and is also a single dad. I liked the dynamic a lot between these two and some of the conflicts that arise throughout the story.
Some of the story was kinda predictable and felt rushed in a way. Also, if I had to hear the FMC talk about the MMC’s “incredibly hot body” one more time, I was going to scream. Like I get it, love that for you, but tell us what else you like about him pls.
And my final gripe was the epilogue. First, the random happily ever after pregnancy made me roll my eyes. Second, the very brief resolution between the FMC and her parents. I wish that would’ve been part of the main story more to build up to this happy ending. Rather than the parents being the worst humans ever and then all of a sudden being fine?

Overall, I did like the book and would probably recommend it to other romance readers in Charleston, but wouldn’t say it’s the best thing I’ve ever read either.

I enjoyed the premise behind this book and the plot/character arc’s. Didn’t blow my socks off or make me cry, but I still liked it a lot!! I would recommend for anyone looking for a slight enemies to lovers, lighthearted read!

I am at a loss for words with this book, but here is my best attempt. This book was phenomenal.

As someone who has a very very toxic mother, I related so much to the struggles of Emma dealing with Amber. Wanting to give the benefit of the doubt for someone who is supposed to love you and you’re supposed to love in return, when sometimes it comes down to what is best for you - not what you are expected or feel obligated to do. It really reminded me of the weight childhood trauma can have on us, even into adulthood.

With that being said, the support systems Emma has in this story make all of the difference, as they do for anyone in “real life”. Having friends, family, or relationships around you to say the hard things and bring you through it, or to simply say, “yeah, they suck” and have your back through it all. That can change everything.

And of course, what choices we make next for ourselves. We can choose to stay in it, stuck, or you can take a step, and do the next right thing, whatever that may be for yourself.

This book was very healing and wholesome for me. Granted, I cried through probably 50% of it, but a relatable, “I feel so seen”, cry.

Maddy is a kickass friend. Justin is a kickass human. Emma is a strong, strong woman.

I loved it, give me thirteen of em right now
