I loved Book Lovers, but this book unfortunately fell a bit flat for me. I love EH's style, but the writing felt very repetitive. Only got invested by the last 100 pages. Still looking forward to reading Beach Read though.

This author served wonderfully flawed, fleshed out, realistic, relatable characters that had developed well by the end. It's a book about friendships, relationships, mental health, grief, loss, missed opportunities, love, aspiration, identity, vulnerability and a thousand other things.

I'm not familiar with Poe's work (though it's on my list) so I enjoyed the story without having knowledge of the original.

EH does such a good job at writing flawed realistic romance characters that actually work and struggle at making their relationships work. This was a good read.

If you're in a slump this might just be the compulsive read you need to get out of it. Even though the mystery wasn't too mysterious it was well written and very quick to read.
