Did not finish book.
I read the main story, 3.7-4 ⭐ for it; didn't finish the others because I wanted to read something else, but the story is well written and is a perfect length.

Fantastic novella to practice critical reading with. This book is so unique and has very interesting layers to it.

The paranoia in this book is written well, almost DNFd at around the 70% mark, the tangents got a bit much, but the writing is good, it's an almost compulsive read and the ending almost paid off.

Such a fun book. It's got dark elements of course but this book doesn't take itself seriously, even though it's written in such a gritty way, I laughed at some of the terminology. The book is not heavy and I'm definitely moving on to the second book. I'm one of those people that point out horses in a field and I'll probably do that until I die, I'm a "horse girl" - you cannot convince me this author is not a "horse girl" himself for the way he wrote his hogs.

This is a difficult review - the writing is quite good, however if I read the physical book instead of listening to the audiobook it would've been a definite DNF..the narrator definitely sold me on it and did a fantastic job. Also, the audiobook is 20+ hours long but instead of me wanting it to not end I felt I already invested so much time and eventually just begged for it to be over. The writing is actually quite enjoyable, I found myself chuckling quite a number of times, but it was so predictable and far too drawn out. I'll just have to be more strict with DNFing I think. (star rating might change

This is a fast paced, compulsive read - I finished it in around 9 hours. It explores some very difficult themes and I was almost moved to tears at around the halfway mark. I think the mystery element of the book is well written, the author leaves very definite breadcrumbs, but doesn't spoil anything. Every time I thought I had it all figured out something else would happen and my theories would change. Please be aware of the trigger/content warnings.

I think this novella was done well. Quick, easy, interesting read with the magic and mystery things going on.
