I loved this book so much. It had a wonderful sense of place and character. I enjoyed Richard as a character, though I frequently forgot his name. Tartt is great at creating a world around such a small story. We got peeks into the larger world sometimes that reminded us how big their problem seemed but that they were the only ones truly experiencing it. The only thing that gets me, is that we didn't see nearly as much of Julian as I expected we would judging by the description and the beginning of the book. It's touched on a bit at the end, but it didn't perfectly satisfy me. I do think this is a near perfect book though.

This one took me a while to get into but once I did I really enjoyed it. These characters were so cute once they stopped acting like complete children for the first third of the book. Would recommend. Can't wait for the next one.

I loved the concept of this book but it fell pretty flat for me about halfway through. I was so engrossed in the style of writing that I was often losing what the book was supposed to be about. I also find this kind of dialogue style and writing style in general difficult for a full novel and usually prefer it with short stories. For me, dialogue is what moves a story forward so when a conversation is being described instead of seen, it's hard for me to be as engrossed in the characters. I do love Quan Barry's writing though and this is a beautiful piece. I can't believe I almost forgot to include it!

Loved this book! It was so much better than I was expecting it to be. The ending felt a bit rushed but the characters were amazing and had great chemistry among all of them. The world building is well thought out and planned very well. There was so much that it was hard to keep track of everything but in a way that made it all the more satisfying when you get to the end!

I love love loved this book! I mostly enjoyed the first story because I already knew and was fond of the story of the girl with the green ribbon. The way it took a familiar story and gave it a deeper purpose or opinion was fantastic. As for the other short stories, I didn't get all of them but I knew what they were getting at and I think it was a really wonderful collection. A read for grad school but very happy with it and learned quite a bit from it.

Had to read for class. It's long and old and not my favorite but there's something to be learned from it I guess.

I got to the end of the book without realizing it because nothing happened the entire time.

That was an absolutely wild plot twist. I did not like how young they were though it felt very odd. I also feel like the
prostitution thing
should have been a bigger deal.
