There Is More by Brian Houston

If you'd like to know more about the story of the passionated couple behind Hillsong Church, this is great reading. I do think the book is a bit repetitive sometimes and I lost my interest close to the end. All in all I do recommend reading it; their spirit seems to be very sincere and there are some great life lessons inside.

The immersive, exotic ambiance of this book takes you away from the hectic here and now. I was surprised as I usually don't like family mysteries, but this one really did it for me. The descriptions are very lifelike and the characters very interesting. It gets better after the first few chapters and the ending is very satisfying. A nice remider to the different shapes of 'love' that are always worth it even if they don't last for a lifetime.

Ik begon skeptisch - te simpel, dacht ik. Maar al snel werd het 'steeds leuker' en na hoofdstuk drie begon ik aantekeningen te maken. Zo simpel, dat het helemaal binnenkomt. En deze jongen heeft humor, dat moet ook gezegd worden. Mooie woorden, mooi doel. Toch maar even lezen.

Classic Mansell, lots of things going on and all solved by the end in the way you want it to be :) Bringing the good old rom com back to live. Lovely setting: Bath, England. Great characters. A bit too rosy sometimes, but that's what you expect from this genre.

Interessant, maar veel herhaling. De kern van het boek had in de helft van het aantal woorden kunnen worden uitgelegd. Wel een mooie visie op een potentiële positieve toekomst rondom economie, sociale toestand en milieu.

A bit tough and uncomfortable in the beginning; the further you get the more sense it all makes until you feel encouraged and don't want to stop reading. Happy with all small, practical advices I learnt.

Eerste deel - omschrijvingen van soorten moeilijke mensen - vond ik wat taai en met onnodig veel woorden omschreven. Vanaf de gecombineerde persoonlijkheden wordt het in rap tempo interessant, herkenbaar en interactief. Op het eind een mooie uitsmijter over het christelijke begrip naastenliefde. Maakte het toch de moeite waard; blij dat ik heb doorgelezen.

Niet heel consistent. Had meer structuur verwacht met een duidelijke guideline van wat "fucks geven" precies inhoudt en hoe je dat systematisch aanpakt.. Misschien te veel verwacht. Wel 13 mooie notities uit gehaald. Leest makkelijk weg, dus geef het een kans :)
