What a ride! Did I have intentions of reading this book? Not really. Did it catch my eye and brought home with me? Yes and so damn glad I did.

The perfect read for the spooky season. It made me cry, I was not expecting that at all and the need for a second book because of Tyler

This is one of the cases I saw the film first and was the main reason why I wanted to read the book.

It tells the story of Lucy Fly, an English girl living and working in Tokyo, accused of murder.

Throughout the novel the events prior to the crime take place along with the present time and the reader will discovered if indeed Lucy committed the crime or not.

It’s a compelling story of secrets, jealousy and obsession. Very fast paced, good to get you out of a reading slump or if you want a quick yet suspenseful read. I recommend everyone to see the movie, which in this case was far better because of the performances.

At a loss for words. Completely shattered. How cruel humanity is, this book should have been called inhuman acts. I can’t imagine what is like reading it in the original language. In Portuguese already felt like a brutal punch in the stomach, a need for air. It’s an homage to one of the many kids who died during Gwangju’s uprising in 1980. A must read.

I was already a fan of Taylor J. Reid but hadn't read any of her best-known books yet. I started reading Malibu Rising but left it halfway through because I wasn't really enjoying it, however I intend to give it a second chance.

Reading this book felt like being in a movie. Evelyn is a fantastic character, bigger than life as they say. I was captivated by her and in a way by the people around her. There are no boring characters, each in their own way captured my interest.

I have to say almost till the end, I was thinking about rating it 4 stars. However, the last pages broke me in more ways than I felt it was possible. It all seemed to make sense. I was crying....for Evelyn and everyone she loved.

It's a story I know I'll take with me and from time to time think about a parallel universe where once lived an Evelyn Hugo.

Bought because of all the hype and it did not let me down!

Such a powerful narrative, strong characters and captivating plot.

All the right ingredients for a 5 stars book.

Go read it, stay educated.

Your worth should never be defined by a man, period.
