Solid mystery, solid start to a romantic couple - I like that there wasn’t an immediate fall-in-love trope given their individual baggage (i.e. alcoholism + transference with casual sex & a cheating toxic ex who can't take no for an answer for Aslan and Quaid respectively).

I find it really difficult to give grace to characters who are cops, even though I'm the one who chooses to read these mystery/procedurals - Colly fucked up so many times and still managed to figure it out mostly because she knew the family involved. 

The writing was still engaging enough to keep me going & I always feel vindicated when my choice in murderer is correct. I can tell when the vibes are off.

This is a failing of men. This same violence, applied to a woman, she does not ask why it is being inflicted upon her, she only struggles unsuccessfully to free herself and grieves the fact she has grieved her entire life, one that she understands fundamentally and innately. That violence simply occurs.

I never knew where we were going, but it was a ride to get there.
