Sorry but it was rape. I know my best friend is going to sacrifice me on the altar for this but he definitely raped her.
The plot was decent though and other than that I liked the book. It’s on the edge of my moral boundaries but I’m going to read the second anyways.
[EDIT: I couldn’t finish he second book because this duology sucks.]

I love this story. It is so cozy and sweet. The found family is amazing. The meaning behind everything written here is just so huge and amazing. Even though this book was fantasy, it was so real. Also, the acknowledgements were so important. Sometimes I want to skip that part since the story is over, but that’s often the best part.
This story meant so much to me as a queer person in this day and time. I absolutely appreciate the commentary both directly and indirectly about trans and gay people’s rights.
The anti-JK Rowling eats again.

What to say..
Holly Black was my introduction to the world of Fae, with the Folk of the Air series. I loved the series and Jude and Cardan and I loved this book with Hazel and Jack.
Holly Black is just an overall amazing writer and clearly has been from the beginning.
I loved how this connected with her later books. There was a good plot with good romance.

OMG HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!
Anyways, this was my first time listening to a full-cast audiobook. It was really cool and unique.

Honestly this book was pretty amazing. The whole universe was explained well and did not confuse me. I absolutely loved the romance and how pure it was. I loved the non-toxic portrayal of Jude.
My only complaint is that about 70% the way through the book things just became so confusing. I lowkey was so lost for a while because things were just kind of all over the place with different POVs and unexplained circumstances. In the end I guess it righted itself, but it was odd for a bit.

I read this quickly as it was a very short story. I have to say I loved it. The MMC was charming and sweet and respectful. I love the incorporation of more respectful men into the romance genre as some characters have fallen very short.
Their romance was really cute and things mostly made sense in the end. Smut was good too.

The book wasn’t bad at all. I liked the mystery/looking for a culprit part since I haven’t read much mystery lately and it’s one of my favorite genres.
To be honest, though, the romance lacked chemistry. Yes, they said they liked each other and they kissed and they had drama but like… there was no chemistry. No warm feelings from how cute the relationship was.
It was a decent book.
Also werewolves just aren’t my thing.

I genuinely really liked this book. The plot was interesting and the romance as well. I even cried some because of the emotional aspects of this. I also really liked Persephone’s character development.
My only complaint is that there is so much unnecessary smut. One second the story made me cry and then immediately after they’re shanking one another (true story). Also, a lot of the time, instead of making up, they make baby, if you get my gist. “I’m so mad at you. You’ve betrayed me. Ooh, new kink; I’m so mad at you that I think we should happily make love.” — not a real line in the book but close enough because that’s like 20% of the book.
Good book. I read it after a Game of Fate. Pretty good.

“But sometimes pain is just pain and theres nothing particularly noble about clinging to it.”
I love Ann Liang and was so excited to read this book! I was even so excited that I put it off for months lol..
Overall, she wrote a good book with a very unique plot and interesting characters. The book explores some deep subjects and has a cute romance. Overall, a good read.

I really liked the short read. I also loved how we finally got Taryn’s perspective, because she’s such a unique and complicated character who is often overlooked.
