I have had The Perfect Child on my TBR for quite a while after seeing reviews and recommendations. I finally decided to read/listen to it via Kindle and Audible. The story line had me hooked and while I kind of figured it out along the way, I thoroughly enjoyed the read as a whole. I will say, that I wish it had giving one more chapter instead of ending where it did as I felt it was unfinished.
If you liked the movie Orphan or anything along those lines, then more than likely you will enjoy this read as well.
This is the very first book I've read by this author. She came very highly recommended by a only book lovers page I'm part of so I figured I'd give it a try. I'm not entirely sure HOW I feel about this book. Was it good? Yes. Did it have a twist? Yes. Did I figure it out before it was revealed? Yep. Would I read it again? Probably not. Just too much unnecessary filler for my taste and it could have ended several chapters earlier had the author wanted.
I read a Wrinkle in Time a couple months ago and realized that there was a series around the characters. This was book #2 within that series.
While the book itself was somewhat enjoyable, the author talked in circles often and I feel as though the story moved rather slowly. In my opinion a 240 page story could have been told in about half the pages and not lost any of the meaning. Also be prepared to gain a bigger vocabulary as the author tends to add in quite a few words you may need to research to understand.
While Asylum didn't even really phase me, Sanctum did at least gave me some freak out moments. As with Asylum, I feel like there was a bunch of filler and that the Roux shoved the ending in at the last minute. Still worth the read if you are looking for something just slightly spooky or suspenseful.
Decent book, but a little hard to stay focused on. I will say this is one of the few books where the movie is better... And it takes a LOT for me to even say that as I 99.9% of the time prefer the books.
Honestly couldn't get past the first 25 pages. To me it is really dry writing and way too much scene setting instead of actual story line. I really wanted to read this since I enjoy the movies alongside my husband, but just couldn't get into this book at ALL.
Very slow moving and lots of "technical" talk, but decent read. Just wish it were a bit more "exciting" throughout the whole book. Most of the action took place between pages 183 and 235 with 236 through 244 being a "25 Years Later" epilogue.
