It's a little too boring :/ nothing much happens in this book tbh

Update: finished it eventually, it got really cute and just wholesome vibes but overall I would say the excitement stops when they finally get together, it wasn't anything showstopping in a book, I feel like it was overall just alright.

I've never read such perfect angst and grovelling in a book until now, my god I love you zoey draven
Compared to the first book, this had a much more light-hearted feel to it, which perfectly highlighted the different characteristics and personalities of the main characters, a skill that I find most books to lack as despite having different protagonists, they feel like cookie cutter versions of one another.

Seerin is such a sweetheart, not the brightest, but a lovely male lead regardless. His pairing with Nelle made so much sense and I loved the two of them together, just them being silly in their own little bubble
This was one of my favourites to read for sure! Also, can I add Dakkari to the languages that I know now because I'm recognising a lot at this point lol

Rebecca Ross always writes such wonderful stories where there is an assortment of amazing characters as well as an absolutely enchanting romance. Her protagonists are always, ALWAYS women who hold so much power and strength and creates beautiful relationships with those around her. I loved this book, and every twist and turn, was one I wasn't expecting but was delighted to find out nonetheless

Oh my god this book was SO INTENSE!!
The audiobook for this is phenomenal, I'm convinced there is no other way to read this, the narrator really transported you into the story and the entire story itself?? Was so haunting and intriguing and devastating.
So much happens and it's such a good commentary on oppression and inequality.

The beginning of the story was not my favourite to read, I couldn't really like Elspeth in the first few chapters and wanted to DNF, but after pushing past the 14% mark, it does pick up and get infinitely better.
