Overall, I preferred the movie. the differences between the two weren't too big to glance over, other than one punishment from Matilda in the book being completely left out of the film. Also, in the film, there's an open investigation into Matilda's father's business through the whole thing, while in the book it was never mentioned. the scene in the movie where Matilda and Miss Honey go see the Trunchbull's house is cohorts fabricated for the movie, while the end scene where Matilda is talking to Miss Honey about a mouse's heartbeat is in the book. I could write a long list of differences but none of them are too big to overlook, honestly. I really don't have a problem with the differences, and noticing them.
It really is a good, cute, short book. I just have a preference for the movie adaptation.
