I didn’t enjoy the writing and felt like I was reading an incredibly dull internal monologue. There doesn’t seem to be any driven plot. It was just… bland
If you can not tolerate authors that are heavily into faith then you will be unable to read this. I could ignore it for the most part but she is heavily faith based and references her revelations with god in each chapter multiple times.
Sophie mouse ventures far from home with her friend Hattie. Along the way they get lost. Thankfully Hattie thought ahead and they find their way home.

Easily finished book 1 & 2 with my 2 1/2 y/o on a long car ride- slightly lost attention for the last chapter and a half but I attribute that to the long car journey vs the story.
Sophie Mouse encounters a new friend, someone completely different than she’s ever met before. Nervous because of stories she’s heard she initially avoids the new friend. Sophie mouse returns home sharing her worries with her parents who quickly help dispel any worries she has and encourage her to not make judgements on others before getting to know them herself. Sophie decides it’s her turn to be brave and helps welcome the new friend to the neighborhood and creates a welcoming environment at school for her new friend.
I couldn’t finish this book for a serious of reasons- however I found the book to be on the side of mom shaming and just general shaming in general. Very “I’m not like other girls” in reference to normal human things. Very disappointed.
My main quip with the book is rather specific and odd- when Louv brings up Ebenezer Howard and his creation of ‘The Garden City’ he fails to mention that the reason these cities have been modified is because they failed. Howard is deemed one of the largest failures of urban planning and white flight is heavily associated with him.
Aside from this the book is pretty informative although anecdotal at some portions. Additionally there is a small section at the end about nature and it’s place in faith- I personally skimmed over this portion as I didn’t find it useful or relatable.
