I liked this book a lot. I had an awesome time reading it. and the twists at the end left me utterly baffled.
My biggest problem, though, was probably the writing style. Don't get me wrong, the writing was NOT bad. It was the metaphorical statements that irked me. Now if there was one philosophical piece of wisdom every couple of chapters, it would have been nice, but there was one almost EVERY page. Feeney has a gift; concocting this many "quotes" is impressive, but she overused her so-called gift. Totally not impressive.
Especially the first few of Robin's chapters lacked action, it was like reading something marketed as oh so thoughtful and deep yada yada.
The annual letters the wife had written to her husband didn't look like letters. They were just a past pov. Letters are not supposed to have entire conversations. You guys talked we get it? Why do you need to write EXACTLY what you both said?
Apart from all that, I came across quite too many misleading sentences. Or maybe -probably- its just the way thrillers are written. How else will you go WAIT WHAT when you get to the twists.

Most people go through life with their eyes shut. And books are good at hiding all kinds of things, especially closed books, just like closed people.
