the first two are so bad they are ~good~ but this one is just bad.
things happen that don’t really make senseAlexandros’ father being killed that easily? he’s thousands of years old and he dies within a few sentences. so if Lucifer is real… where does Christianity fit into all of this? The undead can’t be killed but then a few chapters later dragonfyre kills them. Brother Gigi made Lucian kill his family, how? okay sure dark magic but there’s gotta be a more thought out scheme there. also the order keeps claiming they don’t interfere but that’s literally all Nazeem has done.
there was potential here but in the end it was justthe chosen one saves them all in a weird and abstract sacrifice and then comes back to life without their powers
hate the nicknames. Ophelia is constantly infantilized by everyone it was icky.

I was loving this and even thought wow im reading a five star gem, but wow what a downward spiral this was. I love a complicated, flawed FMC but this unnamed self indulgent LA artist was insufferable. It started off so strong but by the end I was just glad to be done with it. the bold and funny writing kept me on board but was it worth it? idk.

The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty by A.N. Roquelaure, Anne Rice
I thrifted this because i recognized the author and was like yeah sure i’ll read it. I got 2 pages into it and thought “oh…is this erotica?” and then i flipped back to the preface and “it’s excessive and it is erotica” plainly confirmed it for me.
i read it because why not but won’t be finishing the series, anne rice writes sex so clinically
