  • it’s probably embarrassing how much I enjoyed this book. My red flag is that I am attracted to hockey players, and Tucker only made that worse. The banter in this book was definitely the highlight. Sabrina and Tucker always had clever ways of getting on each others nerves. When I read The Deal, I knew I loved tucker, but now I think he’s my favorite. Somehow, this dumb story made me want kids, and I think I’d only be down if it was with John Tucker. This wasn’t necessarily a good book, but boy did I have a good time.

  • this book was way more than I expected it to be. I thought it was going to be cutesy and surface level, the type of easy read I’m sometimes drawn to. While it fulfilled that, it was also so much more. This book had me crying and laughing out loud. I wasn’t prepared for the emotional guy punch. I highly recommend this story, it was so genuine and real. Abby Jimenez does a great job at depicting real problems, and grief. This book feels like looking at a piece of art that manages to capture a feeling of completes humanness.

I'm sure I had critiques, I just can't remember them right now. My main issue is the line between love and obsession that Garber paints. I can't wrap my head around the small tender moments that some of the characters who supposedly can't feel love display. Where is the line? When does it turn to actual love? My heart hurts for Jacks, but also he pisses me off. Tella is still my favorite. I think the fates could've been more foreboding because they didn't feel nearly as threatening as I'd hoped, but I didn't find myself too disappointed. All in all, I loved this story, the ending was satisfying and open-ended enough. I also appreciated how fast-paced the story was.

I LOVE THIS BOOK
Can Donatella please marry me? Dante, legend, and jacks are all fantastically flawed and morally grey characters. The idea of love, heartbreak, grief is prominent, but so is the question of reality and perception, which I love. I love that this is Donatella's story, she is a much more complex character than I see scarlet to be because you can always count on scarlet to make the well-intentioned, right choice. Donatella makes bigger and more human voices, which causes a more interesting narrative to unravel.

I'll do a better review of this later after a reread but I love these books. The writing is so pretty and entrancing. The story is beautiful and so unique and I was so drawn in. The sequels are even better. The aesthetic of caraval is so fun, and the mysteries and twists are so well done. I listened to these audiobooks and Rebecca Soler is amazing, and I had it playing constantly. I need to do a reread with the actual books so I can pay better attention to the details again.
