A sweet, diversified retelling of Grimm’s Fairy Tales less the heteronormative and Christo-centric morality. Fun and kid-friendly! Content notes precede each tale!

This was a slow starter for me, it wasn’t until the Solstasia events really got going that I got hooked. But after that it was a real page-turner! It’s a wonderfully rich world and the characters are a fun swap to typical fantasy tropes. I won’t call it “diverse” necessarily, but it’s definitely badly-needed POC rep in fantasy.

I’m a total sucker for people breaking patterns of generational trauma right now, so this series is really hitting me right where I live. Daria is a splendid storyteller!

A solid story about a local cryptid legend with some good old-fashioned chills and thrills. If you like Stephen King’s The Body or Bradford Morrow’s The Diviner’s Tale, you will like this.

Oliver is not my favorite Bergman, so this was not my favorite of the series, but I deeply appreciate Liese’s commitment to showing disabled/chronically ill and mentally ill folks deserving and achieving HEAs.

I liked this so much I read it all over again once I’d finished. It’s funny and heartwarming and delightful.

Eloise deserved better. Nobody should be required to be happy or horny all the time because their partner’s last relationship was sexless and sad.

Also this book shows one of the most uncharitable views on postpartum depression and mental illness in general I’ve ever read. Just completely without empathy.

I didn’t like this one as much as The Henna Wars, but that’s probably because Hani and I share a lot of flaws so I tended to get really annoyed with her… “Hani you non-confrontational queen, your friends suck eggs! Get new friends! Stand by a boundary for a change!”

Yeah I tended to feel that Ishu got the raw deal here. 😂 But it was still a fun read, full of personality and blunt takes on racism and colonialism that I was glad to see.

The writing is sparse and lovely and dances around its themes of family, love, and dreams gently and sweetly. I want to reread and see what I get out of it the next time.
