pretty much a 5 star the whole way through until the last page or two!
it felt like alice just randomly switched up at the very end out of nowhere! like i know mothers get like biologically devoted to their children but moments before that she didn’t seem to fuck with her kid at all so it felt very unearned to me
otherwise i loved the writing. the concept of the illness was unsettling af and very original!

liked the concept even if it’s not the most original. i read it in one sitting because it’s super easy to get invested in and impossible to put down. all of the characters fell quite flat but i still found myself empathizing with them and caring about their stories. the writing was quite basic but not so bad that it got in the way or distracted me from the story. i just wish there had been more of every aspect because it had such potential.

love that the ghost of her shitty dad got what he deserved
in comparison to what i’ve read from hailey piper before it was just very meh in plot and writing style. i did appreciate the creative take on possession though.

silly goofy novella. very entertaining, but definitely not much better than C- writing imho. barely there characterization, but a fast and engaging plot and B+ (maybe even A-? idk for sure) humor and violence, so you win some, you lose some i guess. plus it’s short af so it’s certainly not a waste of time and you get some wacky laughs and quality kills so i think it’s probably worth it? … but don’t quote me on that lol

the main character was THE WORST but also very very relatable so what does that say about me? definitely nothing good 🤷🏼‍♀️ perfect ~weird girl lit~ but the ending was way too sudden for me so hence the 4.5/5 and not a 5/5 unfortunately

super dark and yet its writing style feels almost too real and disturbingly plausible. the concept of the latter half of the book is fascinating and gave me donnie darko vibes. the writing was visceral and poignant and the two main characters’ relationship was so tragic and because you’re so deeply in one of the character’s head (who is clearly very unwell and screams incel except replace the sexual frustration with violent urges frustration… which i suppose you could say about a lot of incels as well sadly) you almost root for this destructive relationship to survive. the ending was perfect though.
