A sweeping continuation, though felt a little long for the character arcs.

Interesting concept of a pleasure-bot learning and growing. Equal parts frustrating and thought-provoking!

Interesting continuation of the story, but didn’t feel as compelling as the first book. But I do need the next book!

Loved this!! Incredible YA high-stakes competition fantasy. Loved the magic and world building, great character building, and engaging plot!
A couple eye rolls, but I’m an adult reading a YA. Not impressed I have to wait for book two, because THAT ENDING!!!

A fascinating character study of a woman Vietnam Vet. Didn’t love the second half, though the hardship of war vets shouldn’t be enjoyable, so it feels accurate.

So this was a good reminder to me that maybe I shouldn’t impulse buy a book based on the cover! But it is so stinkin’ cute!
Turns out it is a book of poetry around the author’s ex who cheated with some cute parable-style short stories mixed in.
I am absolutely not the intended audience and I skipped through the book, so I am not going to star rate it.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 11%.
The writing is clunky and is trying to build anticipation, but not achieving it - just repeating itself. Heavy reliance on dialogue to move the plot forward. And siblings just don’t refer to each other as “brother” and “sister”!!

A good continuation of the sweeping tale, though it felt a little long.
I’m also not a huge fan of the narrative style where we jump forward, then backfill information. It can be used cleverly to shock the reader, but it felt overused here.

70 pages and we’re still just talking in a spaceship. No action, no conflict, no endearing character traits.

What an interesting concept for a book! I almost think reading the author’s note about the poetic nature would be better to start with!
