Brainscapes: The Warped, Wondrous Maps Written in Your Brain--And How They Guide You by Rebecca Schwarzlose

informative inspiring

4.5

This book brought me to philosophical exploration way more than I could have anticipated. The brain is everything!

Another reviewer said that it might not be suitable for someone unfamiliar with psychology. I do not have an objective point of view here, as I did take psych in high school and I'm generally familiar with more academic writing, and the types of studies described in the book. However, I'm inclined to disagree with that reviewer's opinion--I thought Brainscapes was remarkably easy to read. The prose is accessible, and points are sufficiently reiterated for my distractible brain. Regardless of your background, if you are curious about the ways we perceive, learn, and interact with the world around us, I recommend giving this book a try.
