Steve McNeal stole my reader heart from the very beginning. He is so sweet yet patiently determined to win back his lady love. Steve is also a dedicated firefighter AND a man of faith! Now throw in his handsome appearance and charming personality, this guy is a catch!

Greif stricken Ronnie Spencer is still reeling from the death of her firefighter father. Her hurt is keeping her from living and loving. Ronnie has distanced herself from both Steve and God. Her journey to healing is encouraging and inspirational.

Feya’s life is filled with hunger, sickness, sorrow, hard work, and desperation. She is willing to do anything and go anywhere to provide food for her younger siblings. Unfortunately, Feya can’t escape the consequences of her desperate actions.

Alasdair is meticulous and dedicated to protecting the queen’s interests. I got the distinct feeling that he is not at all happy about escorting that thieving wildcat of a woman to prison. When their trip across the rugged Scotish landscape goes from bad to worse, you are going to have a hard time putting this book down!

Wonderful message of forgiveness, redemption, trust, and love. Jade is hesitant to trust and love because of past pain. Shane is patient and compassionate as he supports and encourages her. I like the way these two work together and begin forming a friendship despite their past. Shane's niece is adorable and so is their little trouble making puppy. Even though the story is full of heartache and lost, it is inspiring, encouraging, and comforting.

Lynette might be the baby of the family but she is tough as nails. This girl is managing the burden of her father's health, their bleak financial situation, and disturbing dreams from repressed memories with little to no help from her siblings.

When family friend and neighbor Nick returns to the island, he does everything he can to help Lynnie out. Eventually, the siblings start trickling back home and it's apparent that they have grown apart over the years. True to life, each sibling is dealing with problems of their own as different and complex as their personalities, relationships, and secrets.

April Gardner has captured the beautiful contrast between the beliefs, traditions, and history of the frontiersman and those of their Muscogee neighbors. This story captured my heart and transported me to that tumultuous time in our history. I am a BIG FAN now and I can’t wait to read more!

Cupid's Crossing is an adorable little town and the perfect setting for a Hallmark movie! Gracie, Brandt, and the nursing home residents tugged at my heartstrings and made me laugh. Gracie is sweet and compassionate. Brandt is a redeemed bad boy now fully devoted to his mother's well being and their family legacy.

Brandt and Gracie are both counting on the prize money from the scavenger hunt to keep their dreams alive. The zany antics of the nursing home residents and the not so subtle urging from Brandt's mother made me laugh out loud. Appropriately, love is in the air in Cupid's Crossing.

Isabel is at peace with her safe and predictable position as a teacher and as guardian of her younger sister. Her unknown relatives offer her and her sister a better life yet she's plagued with feelings of unease.

Isabel soon discovers a life of privilege isn't all it's cracked up to be and there could be some truth in the lore surrounding the mysterious Emberwilde Forest. I loved all the intrigue and suspense! I look forward to picking up another Sarah Ladd title soon.

I enjoyed Taylor and Seth's characters so much in Crisis Team #1 By Your Side that I HAD to find out what happened next in Step by Step, stat! This book exceeded my high expectations, I loved it so much.
Taylor's newfound obsession with controlling her life and forcing herself through her grief truly touched my heart. I can really relate to that tendency to white-knuckle the steering wheel of life when the road gets bumpy.
Seth is an intuitive guy, especially when it comes to Taylor. I don't think he even fully realizes why it's so important to him to make sure she is okay. We've already been given a glimpse of the great comradery these two have in the first book and it just gets better!
I can't get enough Candace Calvert, thankfully she has two more series I can read while waiting for Crisis Team #3!

Nice prequel to [b:An Uncertain Choice|22900446|An Uncertain Choice (An Uncertain Choice, #1)|Jody Hedlund|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1424718995s/22900446.jpg|42467743]! Definitely peaks interest and gives a nice foundation to build a series on. I'm excited to see what happens next!
