hauntingly beautiful and highly original...basically just how I want all my vampire-based stories to be like from now on.
The entire time I was reading this I was like, "fuck, this is reading like a screenplay! where's the emotion! the backstories!" So imagine my surprise when I finish this and realize the author is a screenwriter!!! and the world makes sense again!
not the worst thing I've read, but not something I would wholeheartedly recommend. 2.5 or perhaps a 3 kind of beat.

a wonderfully horrifying book that I would probably never read again yet recommend all the same
get why the girls love this one but I feel like there is hardly any differences between all of Bailey’s heroes which always leaves me at the end of the reading experience with a sense of déjà vu
Had all the right ingredients to be a interesting story but the final product was a tad lackluster. I’m bummed, what can I say!
remind me to stop reading books by screenwriters/playwrights cause the telling vs the showing levels is oooof
o’connell’s work on Netflix’s ‘special’ is top notch but this book read like an unmade season of the show which is ultimately disappointing and feels like a waste of his creativity…will forever mourn what this could’ve been
a good way to pass time on the beach + another reminder to I should really try and visit Maine in the summer
the kind of book that makes you remember why you love reading. my heart hurts and I have a feeling it will for a while. (this is a good thing.)
