OK, so I put off this book forever because the main character’s name is my daughter‘s name which is so weird to me because it’s not a very common name. But, overall it was good read. I liked the story, the growth of the characters, the side characters (with his best friend and his wife), and the spice was spicing - the perfect amount. There was just something missing, I don’t know what it was. I liked their relationship, start off as her throwing sass at him which was fun. Also, this is the first book in the series, so I hope that the writing gets better, if I had to read the words blue-green when describing her eyes another time I might just want to cut my eyes out because it was the most repetitive thing ever.

Also the senior dog rescue was adorable and the ending was perfect with that piece.

This book was just not it. I enjoyed her other Romantasy series but this book felt so off. The writing was not great, it’s obviously a series continuing with these characters and felt like more should have happened and the story should have advanced around his job which was way more interesting
