To be honest I absolutely hated the characters in this novel. They were absolutely multifaceted and well written, but if I were to meet them in real life I would steer clear 😂

Loved this! Listened to the audio, and really enjoyed being able to hear all of the accurate accents for each character. This felt very cozy with the prominence of the ocean and boggy island setting.
I was mind blown by all the pieces that came together at the end, and continued to think about new connections over the following days. 4.25*

This is super meh. Really not a fan, and some of the portrayals of both women and mental illness read as quite problematic. I won't be checking anything else out from this author.

Absolutely adored this novel about a found family. Beautiful representation of all kinds of love, while still being a fairly easy read. The characters are dynamic and wonderful, and my heart broke for our two narrators at multiple points in the book. Would highly recommend if you need to get yourself out of a reading slump!

I just can't with adult romances. Hate the smut and find that the characters are dumb lol if you enjoy romances you would probably like this!

I really enjoyed this! chick lit/ romance is not often my favourite genre as I often find that the characters are shallow, and storylines predictable. While this novel was still somewhat predictable, I found the addition of the fertility struggles, and Gemma’s quest to become a mom an interesting twist. he book was quite amusing, and actually laughed aloud a few times at some of the ridiculousness that ensued. In terms of cons, I found the audio narrator to be somewhat annoying at times, very valley girl sounding voice, even when voicing the male characters. I sped up the sound a bit, and this helped me to get through the novel. I think had I read an e/paper copy I would have enjoyed this more.
Definitely a great read if you are feeling something fluffy and fun! 3.75/5
Thank you to NetGalley for providing this copy for me to review.

This was fantastic! Extraordinarily difficult at times, but absolutely fantastic. This novel follows various women as they experience a plague that kills much of the worlds male population. I absolutely tore through the first half of this book. It reminded me of a disaster movie (my fave. niche film genre), and the first few months of the 2020 lockdown. It gave me a strange sort of nostalgia. I found it very interesting to see how this novel mimicked our current situation, despite being written before any of us had heard of coronavirus. Because of this, I would tread lightly with this one if this could be triggering to you.
Highly, highly recommend! First 5🌟 of 2022!

Oh my. Obviously knew what I was getting myself into here based on the title alone, but what a heart wrenching novel. Mateo and Rufus were both so loveable, and the journey they went on throughout the book so beautiful. I really enjoyed seeing the connections that they made with each other throughout the book, but also the existing connections that they had in the world, which made the story come alive. There could easily be many more books written about the other people within the book that we only get to know on the surface. I would love to read more about The Plutos and Lidia and Penny.
This story gives a really great reminder that life is short, and that we must live a life with no regrets. Be prepared with some tissues and to sit down and read this quickly. 4.5/ 5*
