Audrey's Door by Sarah Langan

I would give this one 3.5 stars if I could. It had SO MUCH potential and I just don't feel like it ever quite lived up to everything I wanted this haunted house story to be. I've read some reviews that thought the background was well developed, but I personally was left wanting to know more about the history and previous occupants of the building. I'm rounding down to 3 stars for the fact that the main character was just so unlikable.
Tooth and Claw by Jo Walton

3.5 stars, but I'm rounding up for the incredibly amusing visuals conjured up by the descriptions of these dragons in their hats. The first third of this book was slowwwww, the second third worked much better, and then I surprised myself by staying much too late to finish it off. I've never read or seen Austen (sacrilege, I know) as it's not really my cup of tea, as it were, but I definitely see where the comparisons in other reviews are coming from. All in all a better read than I was expecting from the flap summary.
The Ask and the Answer by Patrick Ness

The only thing that bugged me about this book was there was little differentiation between the characters of Todd and Viola. It really felt like they were written as the same character, just reacting to different circumstances. Same quirks of speech and thought, even. Viola *should* have a completely alien worldview considering she grew up on the spaceship.
Tender Morsels by Margo Lanagan

While this, book was just not to my tastes at all, I can see after finishing it how it won the awards that I did. So I gave it the two stars instead of just one. I still don't think it should be classified YA though.
Bid Time Return by Richard Matheson

4.5 stars really. Rounded down because I thought the ending could have been fleshed out a bit more.
Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness

4 stars for the same complaint as book 2 - not enough differentiation between the two main characters. Book 1 didn't suffer this problem since it was written only from Todd's viewpoint. Otherwise the plotting was excellent.
