Iron flame is like the Taylor Swift of books. Every passage has double meaning and likely triple meaning that I find myself decoding now that I’ve finished the book. I have reread the last few chapter 3 times within finishing the book in less than 12 hours ago. I have never found myself so enthralled by a book like this.
For those coming from fourth wing, this book is even better than the first. I had been worried that book 2 wouldn’t be as good, since often in world building series the second book is lacking but this book is so well written and thought out. I feel like Yarros was definitely plotting the shit out of this entire series years before she even started writing. This series has made me so excited for reading that I preordered the next book, which I never do as I am a kobo user. This series is worth having on your shelf to read and re read.
The character development and plot twists are so good I basically have whiplash. I’m left not knowing who to love hate, trust, distrust, and truly I want to reread the first book again to see all the clues I missed for these plot twists.

Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
I reread this book because I missed so many hints at the plot the first time. Even though I knew the story, I found myself understanding and finding new loveable parts of the book in the read through. I think this book does an excellent job at the jaw dropping plot twists, and in particular the slow realization that this story is in fact about a dystopian universe. I think what this book did excellent compared to other dystopian novels is build hope, at no point in my read or reread did I feel hopeless for the future of Navarrians or Bagsiath. I think that that is a really unique part of this series that hadn’t existed in other dystopian style novels I’ve read before.

This was a really nice change of pace from the heaviness of ACOWAR. I think it receives unfair criticism for being so lighthearted but I think that this book will be a big help in understanding the next books coming from Sarah J. Maas

I had really hoped for great things with this book but it was really dense, and the world building left much to the imagination. I felt like I was reading this book just to read it and know what the hype was about. Unfortunately this series doesn’t seem to be the one for me.
