Lots of triggers. Lots of messy Jaegar boys and a lot of jumping to new scenes and excessive miscommunication/noncommunicationbut it starts to make sense at the end (but also not) because I still can’t understand not communicating with your SO. 🙈
It's 5 stars. I don't know what else you want from me right now. I laughed. I cried. I got a little hot and bothered. I got my Twilight fix. I saw and felt seen by so many things in this book. I might be friends with this author, but I'm still forever impressed with her work and will always say if something is lacking. This one did. Not. Lack. 🖤
3.75 ⭐️ When I think about how much I adored the Russian and his antics in the first 3 books and then I think about getting to read his story and peel back his layers and I just had higher hopes than this. Was it a good read? Yes. Did I cry a little? YES. The Russian and I are more alike than I should admit lol Still not my favorite in the series unfortunately.
Reread review: I’m remembering why I wasn’t in a hurry to finish this series before. This is really not like 3.5ish stars for me. This one left me wanting to know more about the lore of bonds, the lab, the testing, the whole thing. It could be one massive lead up to having it pop open like a can of worms but damn it. Also it’s one new bond per book isn’t it? I feel like that feels familiar 😂
A super neurospicy (spectrum?) and socially awkward FMC and a he falls first and obsessed with her MMC. The author’s note specifically said this wouldn’t be like the other Hazelwood books. It’s not and that's probably why I liked it. 🙈
I’ve heard a lot of mentions that Rue was hard to relate to but she’s written like I said as possibly on the spectrum and I think most people need a neurotypical (or at least non-spectrum related neurospicy) FMC to connect with. I kept waiting for some kind of admission of a medical condition but we never got one but I couldn’t help looking at Rue through that lens and once it clicked for me then her reactions, “coldness” and how she handled interactions made a lot more sense. Which to me means she was well-written.
Could I have asked for more with Eli? Maybe. But honestly, that boy had his struggles too. So as long as he keeps using that belt we’ll be fine.
Three stars just because of Kits POV. It would have been less or a dnf if it was based on Theo alone. I couldn't connect with them or handle their mindset and most of the character as a whole
Reread (Aug ‘24): Honestly same. I could have slept through most of this book. I did see a lot more details this time about Oli (not me ignoring the boys though) so I mean. A light doze I guess. But I still think this book and book two could have been combined into one book if I was Bree and writing this myself, alas I’m not and we have a six book series.
First read (Sept ‘22): Alright so I know that was meant to just be the first book in a lengthy series but I couldn't help feeling like nothing really happened until the last 20% or so. Now of course after the last 20% and the last few sentences I need to get book two immediately so, here the frick we go. 😂
I'm going back and forth between 4 and 5 stars on this one, so hopefully, I can decide while writing this out. So, let's jump in... I would be doing everyone a disservice by not starting this with a heavy, heavy reminder to check the trigger warnings and to check in with yourself while reading this one. Now that we've taken care of that one...
Just when I thought the first book hooked me, the second installment in Abby Millsaps' series cranked the excitement up to 11! So Real picks up right where the cliffhanger in So Wrong left us; let me tell you, it does not disappoint. The pacing is much snappier this time, pulling you in from the start and keeping the tension high throughout.
The dual timeline and multiple POVs—Greedy, Hunter, and Levi—are back and better than ever. The dynamics between these characters are electric, with Hunter and Levi's moments being absolute standouts. Their interactions are so well-written and filled with chemistry and depth that they make you root for them even more. We also add Kabir's (Spence) POV and get to know him and Hunter's relationship in both timelines, which had me feeling ✨things.✨
Like I mentioned, as with the first book, be prepared for heavy trigger warnings. This series doesn't shy away from tough topics but handles them with care and authenticity. It's intense and emotional, but that's part of what makes it so compelling.
And oh, that ending! If you thought the first book's cliffhanger was intense, brace yourself. This one leaves you on the edge of your seat, eagerly awaiting the next chapter in this gripping saga.
All in all, the second book in this series is a thrilling continuation that deepens the story and the characters we love. So I guess it's 5 stars for me, packed with heart-pounding drama, sizzling romance, and a storyline that keeps you guessing. So, if you're ready for more twists, turns, and emotional rollercoasters, dive into this book. You won't be able to put it down!
