Felt too predictable and I need some stakes or angst to keep me interested.. A friend confirmed I had guessed the entire plot at this point so I'm not invested enough to continue.
ya know that feeling when you're like so glad you got to read the end of a story, but also like "fuuuuhhhk, that was the END?!" That was me. I also still love the Russian. lol, he is my favorite recurring theme.
First, I want to explain my "it's complicated" for cast diversity. While there is an MM pairing, I think thus far, everyone else appears heterosexual, cis, and white. I don't think I saw any diversity otherwise. I didn't catch mentions of different skin colors, no other LGBTQIA+ representation, no neurodiversity rep, and honestly, no disability rep aside from elders and their achy bones, which I guess is something.
Now, for the meat and potatoes of the story, this is a perfect representation of a book with spice we've come to know from Veronica Eden (as Luna Lark in this instance). She's written a man/men (šLIAM) that you can be grouchy with until he proves himself, and then says all the right raunchy things. š¤£ Plus, obviously, some groveling. I think there could have been more depth to their relationship, more build-up to earning forgiveness, and just a little more depth overall. I just felt like we stayed pretty surface-level, but this is a good choice if you're looking for a quick read.
There's, of course, more plot to this than just Caden's groveling and subsequent worship behavior that any shifter romance girlie is used to; we also get pack politics and a quick intro to neighboring packs. Along with some other interesting girlies that I hope come back around for some more sneaky saves š
Tl;dr - Shifter romance with groveling wins again. Give me more side characters stories please. kthnxbye
I'd like to thank Luna for the ARC of this story. All thoughts are my own. š¤
Did they really turn the national anthem into something Iāll never hear the same way again?! I had a big gap between the first one and this one and didnāt really feel like it was a big deal. Definitely read them in order because couple spoilers but otherwise not super important to remember every detail of the previous book.
Also the Russian? Relatable babe. Cheese and milk productsš„²š
I loved Opals character and how she jumped into things wholeheartedly. Granted it didnāt always work but she was relatable. Her ADHD rep was spot on and I loved her more for it. And I canāt forget grumpy, (not-so) little Pepper. I canāt speak for how relatable the autism rep is but I felt like her perceptions and her triggers were explained to the point that anyone could understand where she was coming from and why it impacted her the way it did.
