I had a hard time getting started but once I did it was good. If I read it at another time I might’ve had an easier time. I enjoyed the small town aspects and the quilting parts. The romance was fine - the characters have a connection but I’m not sure it was developed enough for me to enjoy it fully. I will definitely try more by the author.

This book is more about North Woods than the characters that filter through the space over 300-400 years.

For as graphic as this story could be (it is about serial killers taking out other serial killers after all), the two main characters are so soft with each other and so cute that I could myself sometimes forgetting what they did for fun. Don’t worry though every few chapters there’s enough murder and gruesomeness to remind you. 🤣 I liked the secondary characters as well and am looking forward to continuing with this series.

For the people who love historical romance but want to read about something other than a Duke or the gilded age (listen I love those too but variety is good). Loved this story of Mackinaw Island during the development of the Grand Hotel and everything that it has become. The hero and heroine are wonderful and flawed and just have so much chemistry. Loved it!!
