ok i get the hype i do. i read it in anticipation of the show, and i dont think i ever gave tjr enough credit. she created a full world, a real band within the pages of her novel. im incredibly impressed. each character was so real and frustrating (as humans are), and though it doesnt end perfectly tied up with a bow, the ending leaves you satisfied enough because you believe that what jenkins wrote is only a snippet of the lives of daisy and the band. its just so engaging and such a fun read!

<edited rating> i had to change it to five stars im sorry i still think about this book two months later and that is the ultimate signifier of a five star-er

what a fun book. i read it because i have kindle unlimited and it looked like a nice, free read, but i really enjoyed it along with its free-ness. it kinda made me believe in love? or in soulmates? still trying to figure it out. but it definitely was engaging; one of the first engaging rom coms ive read recently actually. also, there is an all too well reference in there which was a nice surprise!

oof ok i read it on a whim on the plane and i really liked it like a LOT it was super intense and different and yes good BUT holy shit does this one come with content warnings like there are so many elements that had me super uncomfortable and i just feel like, as someone sensitive to quite a bit of stuff (especially female abuse/torture), this shocked me and i had to skip sections that made me queasy but the romance element was top tier

don’t get me wrong like it’s a good book i get why people love it so much but i heard that this one was the best in the series and that’s why i picked it up and it’s probably my fault because i watched the show before i read but it just seemed like idk the show got the slow burn can’t have each other sexual tension right but the book was more like oh i like the way she smiles and my dick gets hard when i’m around her like it focuses less on the love and i didn’t like that very much i was hoping that (like the show) they couldn’t get away from each other because they had this pull when they talked/fought but that element must’ve been added to the show because i felt it was missing here ANYWAY all in all a good book but, and i say this like EXTREMELY rarely, i felt the show was better 😬😬

i’ve been waiting to get my hands on this one for a while and now that i have it all i can say is WOW HOLY SHIT IT WAS WORTH IT not even exaggerating this is one of those books that will leave you thinking about it for a week afterward and honestly maybe forever like it’s so captivating because donna starts it so like GOOD and then you’re waiting the entire book for the conclusion of the prologue but then she says haha you fucks and HITS WITH THE BIGGEST TWIST and it’s not only entertaining it’s also a book that will make you feel like smart for reading it it just makes you THINK do not put this book off because your afraid it might b too intense or whatever no read it now it’s fun and weird and sad and complicated and you will regret it if you put off reading it for another second

AHHHH i loved the beginning i so did. but the second half of the book????? SO RUSHED WHY DID WE RUSH i feel like this was supposed to b a trilogy there was just so much consistent development in this series until the second half of this book then everything lost it’s pace and nothing was believable anymore like SPOILER bash all of a sudden just gives it all up for her despite being incredibly selfish throughout the series???!??! HOW we never got the how and then she went from totally in love with bash to uh fuck you bash now i love finn?!? babe what like at least in acotar feyre or whatever started hating tamlin at the end of book 1 so her shift to rhys made sense but ughghghh SO MUCH POTENTIAL
