Sensual Faith: The Art of Coming Home to Your Body by Lyvonne Briggs

This book is for recovering evangelicals, especially black women, who are trying to reclaim trust in themselves, honor their physical bodies, and embrace their sexuality. Lyvonne's honesty and openness is refreshing, and also unnerving. While parts of it are a little cheesy for my taste, I would absolutely read it again. I have so much spiritual baggage to unpack, and there is a lot in here that speaks to my current situation.

Bravo Jess! This was so stinking good. The pining, the illicit smut, the historical setting. It all came together in such a delicious little story that completely captured my attention and nearly brought me to tears. Miles' smut writing as an outlet for his greif was so beautiful, and Charlie's so sweet and honorable it hurt. I cannot wait to read more from Jess Everlee.

Everyone in Ghosthollow has secrets,  and Lou and Clementine are no exceptions. They're both running from their pasts when they run into each other, and sparks begin to fly. This is the slowest of slow burns, but mostly because these characters refuse to talk to each other. But even outside of that, this book felt really slow. I can't say if it was the writing style, pacing, or both. The pining is top notch, the banter is fun, and the mystery/thriller aspect was pretty interesting. If you're looking for a queer cowboy romance with highish stakes, this might be the right fit for you.

Cute little short read! The misunderstanding was realistic, and the things that had me squinting my eyebrows at the start ultimately get explained. I wouldn't mind getting a full story on these guys.

This story was cute and I liked watching their relationship develop, but the art style didn't really work for me and the resolution was a bit flat.

This feels like a little selah besides Billy. These are so much more thoughtful than I expected. I could see myself rereading all of these.

I really enjoyed this! This collection of senior citizens have lived such interesting lives, but they are not content to go gentle into that good night. We go on this wild journey with Daphne, Art, Lydia, and Ziggy as they navigate being made invisible by age and circumstance, but they see each other. Daphne is a hoot and a half, and I absolutely love how feisty she is. Their stories are interconnected through their local community center, and if this isn't a ringing endorsement for 3rd spaces and community building, I don't know what is. We've got a bit of mystery, grief, loneliness, and despair, and a lot of love.

This book feels more literary Fiction to me with a strong romance subplot than straigh up romance to me. I think if I knew that going in I could have adjusted my expectations, but this was still pretty good. Renee's family, especially her brothers, made me want to spit nails. I had to pause the book every time their garbage behavior was on display. Ket Siong was alternatingly interesting and flat. His main character trait was being obsessed with Renee, but the mystery aspect gave him a bit of depth. The wrap up gave me all the warm and cozy feels, and for that I bumped the rating. I would try more from this author now that I have a better idea what to expect.
