Can Love Happen Twice? by Ravinder Singh
2.0
Can love happen twice is the second part of Ravinder Singh's bestselling novel I too had a love story. In I too had a love story there was a true love story of Ravin and Khushi which brings tears to a lot of people's eyes including me.
In this book the author focus on Ravin's life after the death of his beloved Khushi. Ravin's three friends begin reading a handwritten copy of Ravin's incomplete second book in a radio station in Chandigarh. After a year and a half since Khushi's death, Ravin moved to Belgium in the hope of change where he meets Simar an MBA student. They start dating each other very soon and as every love story, they also have their differences and problems where both want to settle in different places after their marriage. It's a story about priorities, adjustments, expectations, judgment, and disappointments.
Overall it's an a-okay book to read because the author doesn't match the expectations of readers this time. The love story of Ravin and Khushi was far better than Ravin and Simar's, and it's also obvious to compare two of these relationships with each other. I guess Love can happen once only but if it happens twice than it is not well written or described in this book. You can read this book if you are curious to know what happens to Ravin after the death of her true love. Otherwise, it's not worth reading.
True Love is unconditional. And if it is a 'Conditions Apply' scenario, then it isn't true love.

Everyone Has A Story by Savi Sharma
1.0
Everyone has a story is the author's debut novel which was inspired by stories around her presented as an 'Inspirational Romance'.
Well talking about the character Meera, who is in search of a story. Vivaan, who dreams of traveling the world. Kabir, who desires something of his own. Nisha, who keeps secrets of her own. Every character wants something from life. The story revolves around them with very little depth of sense. It is a story with some unrealistic events like Meera's accident and no one comes to visit from her family. Vivaan wants to explore the world but has the same dialogue all around that I quit my job for traveling is enough to lose interest in this book. Nisha, a rich girl fall for poor Kabir makes this story like a daily soap or typical Bollywood drama. They have only a few problems or adventures in their life and they don't have much to do with their life. I don't understand what was in the author's mind while writing.
The characters are dull and one dimensional. The author doesn't think much while writing. It's an utter disappointment to read something like this; the author's writing is clumsy, implausible, and superficial. It's not at all inspirational romance, the story makes no sense. The title is captivating but it's a disgrace to genuine readers. The author is failed to inspire others through his writing. I would not recommend this book to anyone and the only thing I found interesting about this book is that it's in a list of Flipkart and Amazon bestseller books of 2017.

Hercólubus o Planeta Rojo by V.M. Rabolu
3.0
Hercolubus or Red Planet by V.M. Rabolu unfolds his perspective regarding the destruction of the human race.
The author claims that he visits Venus and Mars through his astral (subtle) body. He describes how people live there and how they are different from us. The way American government feeds us lies and no one wants to connect with the supreme Mother or Father.
I don't know if the author truly experiences the journey to other planets, but I do believe in astral projection and know that is not impossible. With the help of the right techniques, one can explore other places without moving physically. V.M. Rabolu talks about the connection of dreams with one's astral journey. This book gives readers a new perspective, but to believe the content or not is your choice. The language is lucid, and it's a fast-paced read. I recommend it.

Marigold - the Golden Memories by Manali Debroy
4.0
Marigold: The Golden Memories by Manali Debroy is a collection of eighteen short stories. They are woven around love, family, desires, dreams, and realities of life. The cover page is soothing. The blurb didn't give much information about the content, but the prologue will clear the picture.
The collection of stories is inspired by real-life incidents which make them connectable to the readers. Every story portrays a strong and independent female character. The first and last story have the same resemblance, the only difference is that one character left the Casanova while the other one chooses him and live happily ever after. The plot went smoothly, but the characters felt pain and love at the same time.
The language is crystal clear, but the fonts are small, and it makes reading a difficult task. Manali Debroy's writing includes a roller coaster of emotions, and it touches the heart. The stories were amusing and have a deep effect. It is fast-paced. If you like short stories, give this book a try.

I am Always Here With You by Himanshu Rai
3.0
I am always here with you is a story of Kartik and Ashima, but can someone really be with you, no matter whatever the situation is? The plot revolves around their love story with a setting of Dehradun and Noida. They are madly in love; their love is so deep that they didn't care about anybody else.
Kartik is well built while Ashima is beautiful in her own ways. They first met in school, and their relationship grows with time. They got married to each other and soon expecting a baby. Life is all good, but for Kartik, something is amiss. In the journey of love, he lost a person who was his ideal. As time flies, Kartik tries his best to mend the relationship with his father, with the help of Ashima. But things will take a sloppy turn, and leave everybody in pain and torment.
In the middle of the story, Himanshu Rai gives a disclaimer to not read the story further if you're too emotional. The same point I read in Ajay K. Pandey's novel You are the best wife. Before the disclaimer, the story is sweet, after that, it took a dramatic turn for the characters as well, for readers too. Indian parents and their love for engineering are found in this book. Kartik's father wants him to pursue Maths and become an engineer, but he opts Arts. As a typical Indian father, he stopped talking to Kartik and blames Ashima for everything. Kartik and Ashima's bond touches the heart.
The language is simple, but grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, and printing errors are noticeable. The author effortlessly narrates the story in the past and present, but the cover page is not striking. The characters are a bit dull, and their expectations from each other move forward the story. I like the way Himanshu Rai describes the female protagonist's pain. Sanjeev and Rashmi played a short, but indispensable role. Rashmi's persona felt a little bit unrealistic. The last three chapters felt abruptly written. I feel a little emotional when I read Kartik's letters. Overall, this book is a journey of love with desolation. I recommend it to newbies and romantic fiction lovers.

This novel is based on reincarnation. The story starts with an accident when a beautiful young woman Amanda Parker saves the life of a handsome Chicago policeman, Mark Callahan. They both feel an instant connection but Amanda thinks that she knows Mark from her past life and her instinct will become stronger when she purchases an antique clock from the 18th century. Amanda lives with her godmother Mary, who is a psychiatrist and a cat named Oprah.
The story revolves around Amanda how she lost her parents and boyfriend. She started thinking that everyone she ever loves will die sooner or later and because of this, she doesn't want to come closer to Mark. Every time she meets Mark she felt a connection with him and with that clock she buys after her accident. Mary helps Amanda to learn things about her past life where she is a girl name, Bonnie.
Ben, the Negro man was Bonnie’s father. Jack is her cousin, and they lived in Virginia. Apparently, Bonnie's parents died and all the other people she ever loved. The truth of Amanda's past life broke her and she started to think about how unlucky she is. But with the help of Marry and the unconditional love of Mark she understands the purpose or truth of her past life. Amanda is very hesitant towards Mark at first, but she has no problem involving him sexually. The kisses and cuddles, as hot as they were, seem pointless and overdone.
But It's a story of love and loss. The details of Amanda's regression session described well. There are so many characters in this book and Amanda try to figure out who was Mark and what is the connection between two of them which makes her life tough day by day. The little details in this book, like the St. Michaels church, the angel bells, and many such important artifacts too, later revealed to be real, blew my mind.
The author described historical parts very well as the American Civil War and Chicago fire. There is a story in the story of a different era. The characters are mix with past and present very well. But sometimes it creates confusion or the words used in the 18th century part is stupify. The story is both romantic and mysterious. The story pace is slow. The clock scenes were added to the fascinating spiritual viewpoint throughout the story. The research and detail were just excellent. The feeling of these two characters falling in love will stay with you long after you finish the book. It's a satisfying read and if you are a historical fiction fan then this book is for you.

A Slice of Calicut Halwa by K.N. Raghavan
4.0
Women played the role of daughter, sister, mother, wife, daughter-in-law, and even Goddess. But our society treats them as weak and sensitive. One who can't make her own decisions or capable enough to manage her finances even after marriage; is a standard thought process of men. People dominate women from a younger age, they saw how parents treat differently to a boy and a girl. The liberty of playing outside and talking to boys had gone when teenage days start, girls, forced to do household chores when her brother do whatever pleases to him.
A Slice of Calicut Halwa is such a story of a girl named Reema. Due to her dark complexion, she soon understands that there is only one way to make her family proud by studying hard. She excels in school and college, but soon she becomes the prey of a goon Desmond Lopez. He is a law student and constantly harass Reema in public. The repeated abuse breaks her spirit, but with the help of her friend Jyoti and her mother Devi, she gets rid of him.
She got admission in medical college and soon get married to Praveen. Like every girl, she has dreams, but they all smashed when she got to know Praveen's authenticity. She bears the physical abuse and name-calling. Her only way to get rid of these situations is to gain financial independence. She became a known surgeon, but her life gets more miserable. The past comes back to haunt her this time with more intensity. When no one came to her rescue, she decides to take the matter in her hands for the very first time. Will she be able to get rid of Desmond? Will she ever be able to find love in her life?
Dr. K. N. Raghavan has written an artistic story portraying homosexuality and physical abuse endured by women. We live in the 21st century still, the women didn't get the respect and the value they deserve. Reema's mother and elder brother Rajesh blames her when they know about Desmond; by saying that she invokes him.
Reema's husband never bothers to pay attention to her wishes. He pretends to be an ideal spouse in front of others. No woman should give a man another chance if he abuses her. No matter what society says because those people will never understand the trauma a victim goes through. From a younger age, the mother told her daughters to obey her husbands and in-laws wishes, that she has to please them, and make sacrifices. She has to bear all the responsibility of marriage.
If a husband beats you, it is your fault. If a man has an affair, it is because you are unable to satisfy him. This is the reality of Indian society. People always find faults in women. No one dares to speak about the brutal ways of men, not even their mothers. Praveen's mother had some doubts about his son's sexuality, but she never talked to him; instead, she finds a girl to marry him. Another dark side of people's personalities.
This story is phenomenal. I appreciate the author's efforts to wrote a women-centric story representing the pain and sacrifices she made. I recommend this book to adult readers only.

The Love Dose by Romil Zaveri
3.0
The Love Dose is a debut book of Romil Zaveri. The story is based on a twisted family issue; with a void of affection in the characters life.
Plot - The story starts with Amanda and how her incapability leads her to a dark route which she regrets later. Toad, Amanda and Keith's son, start a new chapter of his life at the University of Milton. He befriended Sara and fall for her at first glance. Sara is a beautiful and well-known girl admired by many boys. She brings a positive change in Toad's life. Their relationship was sweet but ends without any solid ground.
Sara moves on with her life and meets Ron, a spoiled brat. Their love blossoms, but again destiny plays a bad joke that leaves Sara isolated. Meanwhile, Amanda and Keith's relationship grew bitter day by day which affects Toad the most. The entry of Amelie in their lives proves to be an end for Amanda's happiness. Some truths hidden in the closet came into the light.
This book proves to be a light read which starts with a slow-pace but soon speeds up. The ends seem superficial that too placed in the Mumbai city. Romil Zaveri thoughtfully writes about the attachment, desires, and weakness; one feels while they are in love. As a debut author, I appreciate his efforts and wish him luck for his future projects. I recommend this book to the newbie.

Fosters of Fall by Anshul Kapoor
5.0
Fosters of Fall is the debut work of Anshul Kapoor. The story is based on science fiction, but half part documents to be cogitative and contemplative towards the human's greediness and blindness, which leads to an ultimate end of life on the Earth.
The Earth is ravaged by humans altogether. The remaining 700,000 people are living in a man-made satellite named, Sanctum. It was designed to support human life for 500 years. The high-class member of Sanctum is looking for a surrogate asteroid; to ensure the future and survival of Sanctians.
They send travelers to different planets to study their environment. So far, they didn't find anything until a day when Pecker finds a planetoid worth living for human beings. As they call it TRH 98, it brings hope for Lenox, President of Sanctum, and his team members. But it is not an easy task to live on another planet. From this point, the story took a philosophical turn.
Human beings are known for their survival instincts. Instead of being hunted, we hunt and kill. This thinking leads us to different developments collectively. We define our actions by the affluence we are getting, instead of restoring the natural resources, we are utilizing them rapidly. We know that one day we will extinct; if we don't improve our ways, just like other species.
Our risks of extinction depend on natural calamities and man-made catastrophes. But most of us are not ready to change. We destroy everything we touch sooner or later. Lenox justifies everything by saying that we are superior beings who deserve to live, even after their planet is not ready to take them back. Will they survive or lost forever in the darkness of the Universe?
Being a debutant, Anshul Kapoor has done an admirable job in writing this dystopian story with a cinch of indulgence towards the current scenario. The science fiction shows us a glimpse of the future, and we can learn a lot from it. Besides that, the narration is lucid and gripping. The language is easily understandable, and I loved the gorgeous cover page. The end left me with concerns about our future survival and the gravity of balancing. I would certainly recommend this book.
