Undelivered Letters by J. Alchem

4.0

It’s a story about nine undelivered letters due to the negligence of Aron Paris, a postman who has an athletic body, black hair, and clean shave oval face and Sara Marcos love of his life. After 23 years of their married life, they shift to some other place; while shifting Sara found a black leather bag of Aron covered in layers of dust with few undelivered letters.

Aron immediately understands the blunder he had made. An uninvited pain had enveloped him. He forgot to deliver the letters and thinking of those people who waited for this letters make him feel guilty. He decided to deliver the letters he should have done 20 years ago. While delivering letters Aron experience so many emotions at the same time. It needs the courage to accept mistakes and apologize for them but Aron has that courage and determined to correct his mistake by delivering the letters to their recipients.

Carl, Samuel, and Cathy were three recipients of those undelivered letters. The letters left a huge impact on their lives. The way Cathy waited for her husband and took care of their daughter, Kara.
Samuels's love for Elizabeth and the way this letter shook Samuel's life. The Carl had an impact on the life of Bakintin Lenit and the way he shows the right path to Lenit was my favorite part so far. Each and every emotion is written in a very magnificent way that it will touch your heart and anyone can easily relate or live their lives while reading.

The author does justice with each character and portrayed in a very manageable way. It's in a Kindle version now having the story of only three undelivered letters and will be out soon as a paperback with remaining letters and their stories. We are living in an age of technology where people usually don't write letters but for me, it's a treat to read this and experience such a beautiful emotion. I would definitely recommend this to all. It's a roller coaster ride of emotions and I'm eagerly waiting for the other letters to read as soon as they available. It's worthy of your time.

Some of my favorite lines from this book -

1. The love of an adventurer towards book was inexplicable. We did not have our favorite people around, but we did ensure we had books to accompany us to those places.

2. Sometimes you get stuck and it took days for you to find a way through the lurch, landslides and natural calamities. It is the life of a mountaineer.

3. You don't choose the novels, they choose you.

4. A perfect revenge would be ensuring that no writer commits suicide after rejection.
A Flight of Broken Wings by Nupur Chowdhury

Actual Rating - 4.5 Stars

A Flight of Broken Wings by Nupur Chowdhury is the first book in the series of three. It is author's debut book. The plot of the story based on a war between humans and Aeriels. The cover page is simple. I like the wings which indicate to Aeriels, but the sword makes me confused because there is a mention of sif blades, not actual swords. So the cover page gives me mixed feelings.

The main character of the story is Ruban Kinoh. He is the best Aeriel hunter in all of Vandram (a fictional place on the Earth). Simani, she is one of the best IAW agents and a partner of Ruban. Tauheen, Aeriel queen and the villain of this story. Apart from them, there is Subhas, chief director of IAW (Intelligence and Analysis Wing) and Ruban's uncle. Ashwin Kwan, a Zainian nobleman.

Aeriels live in Vaan and humans on the Earth. They both hate each other. The humans developed a formula which kills an Aeriel in a single shot. But it was stolen by Aeriel Queen Tauheen for her own devilish plan. The story revolves around Ruban and his teammates how they stop her and save the Earth. In their conquest, Ruban confronts his loved ones and torn apart when he knows the truth about his life.

Ruban's father and lover Miki died in an accident. He always thought that his past was only black and white and tries to make peace with the ugly truth. But soon he realizes that there are other shades too which he never thought about. The people around him were not the one he thinks they were. Ashwin helped Ruban in discovering the truth about his life as well about the Ariels. Soon they became an ally. But Ashwin has his own hidden agenda. During a fight, Ruban knows his secret. It changes their whole relationship.

Every human is not bad some are good too. Ruban experiences the same thing on his journey about the Aeriels. He learned Aeriels history and understands the facts or myths before the Rebellion. This new conclusion helped him to make peace between Aeriels and humans. But can he kill Aeriel Queen? What is the truth he finds out about Ashwin and his own life? What happened when Ruban know that all the things were a big fat lie? For all the answers you need to read the book. This story is about grief, betrayal, and revenge.

There are few grammatical errors and spelling mistakes. The name of the characters confused me. I really don't like them. That's why I cut .5 stars. The story is firm, but it is slow-paced.

All the characters were planted properly by the author. I am impressed by her writing and detailed description of every sequence. The story has its twist and turn. Nupur Chowdhury was able to create suspense in the story. It hooks readers from start to the end. The author gives a proper ending which I really like. The language and word choice are striking.

The Aeriel Queen Tauheen character is one of my favorite. She is a manipulating psychopath, and the author describes her in a proficient way. The characters grow with the story. If you love reading fantasy, this book is perfect for you. I really enjoy reading it. I recommend it to all fantasy lovers, and a newbie so they know what a debut work looks like.

Aluria by Tyler Cook

1.0

The story of Aluria reminds me a series named Arrow where Oliver Queen, a rich businessman disappeared & considered to be dead until he came back to save his city. Well, back to Aluria it is a fast-paced story with so many errors. The storyline is one-dimensional. The author didn't do justice to the characters. It's a short read so characters are not described well. The dialogues or description between characters is lame. I can't feel any kind of emotional connection with any of the character. Aluria and Jason have odds on how to handle situations, with Jason's empathy for his enemies.

Heart Quake by Ishita Deshmukh

2.0

Actual Rating - 2.5 star
Heart Quake by Ishita Deshmukh is a romantic fiction. It is author's debut book. The plot of a story based on natural calamity happened in Bhuj in 2001.

The two main characters of this story are Sonal Patel and Tejas Desai. Sonal is a medical-surgical nurse, lives in Delhi. She is an ambitious and career oriented woman. Tejas is one of India's leading cardiologists and owner of a hospital in Jaipur. He is rich but solicitous. There are other characters too who play an important part in this story. They are Sonal and Tejas's colleagues.

The story starts when Sonal arrived in Bhuj after the earthquake. She started working with NGO. They provide medical aid to victims of this drastic natural calamity. But helping them is not the only reason she comes to Bhuj. She wants to find her best friend, Smita. Meanwhile, Tejas's father is a businessman who only understands the language of money that's why Tejas goes to Bhuj with a proposal of shifting critical patients to their newly opened hospital. In this way, the hospital gains media exposure and credibility. He reached the same camp where Sonal is working.

Tejas and Sonal were long lost, lovers. They meet after 10 years at the camp in Bhuj. Both were shocked and lost in memories. Day by day they grew close to each other again. Tejas believe that destiny give him a second chance. He neither want to waste this chance nor want to repeat the same mistakes he did in past. While working in the camp Sonal develop heartily connection with patients.

"True love is a unique emotion that forces humans to forget themselves, rise and live selflessly for one another. Not everyone is lucky enough to experience it."

The story is not all about love. There is suspense too. Sonal and Tejas struggle with their feelings and immature decisions they made a decade ago while in the camp sudden deaths creates suspicion on everyone. The story revolves quickly. There are many emotions like pain, love, struggle, hatred, hope, and jealousy. It is a quick read. I feel a lack of depth in characters. I did not find a single character which is perfectly described by the author. I can't connect with any of the characters. There are so many things and aspect of this story which is untouched like Tejas's family. I wanted to read more about Pooja's jealous behavior, after effect of Nilkant's confrontation or Neelam's heartbreak. The characters don't grow or develop with the story.

"Thoughts have the power to manifest. Do not formulate negative thoughts in your mind, do not let them foster and gain strength."

I like the character of Dr. Bimal Sen, Tejas mentor. He is like a lamp post in the dark because he always shows the right path to Tejas. Unfortunately, his character also has a very small place in the story. But he plays an important role in Tejas's life.

"Fate may be omnipotent, but we have in us the power to choose our path. We are not mere puppets. We can make a difference. At important turning points in our lives, our choices shape our destiny. That is the subtle difference between accepting fate and carving your destiny. You are at such a crossroad. Choose carefully then give it your best shot."

The part of Sonal's family is also not well described. Dilip, Sonal's best friend have the ability to do more but his character didn't get enough exposure. Even Sonal and Tejas characters were trivial. Smita's story didn't touch my heart. I like Pooja's chucklesome attitude. The way past memories described is confusing and need a re-read to understand what is going on. Overall, It's a nice read. The story is fast-paced and didn't bored you.

The author tries her best but I believe she can do much better in her next book. I also don't like the way of ending. I wanted more to read but still, it's a thought-provoking story about the harsh reality of society. It's a good book for newbies. The language is simple and writing is flawless. I recommend it to beginners & to those who love romantic fiction.

Karmic City - The City of Lord Brahma by Hema Myer Sood

5.0

Karmic City: The City of Lord Brahma by Hema Myer Sood is a first book in the trilogy. The plot of the book based on Indian philosophy. The cover page looks good, and the title is striking.

In this book, Hema Sood has portrayed a spiritual and subtle relationship between man and the soul. This book gives an insight into how one can achieve high knowledge through meditation and constant prayers. It's good to read about the soul's journey and cultivating positive thoughts.

I really like the poetry part and the story of Karma which influence one's birthplace and parents. It proves to be a refreshing and deep-seated read. The main character in Karmic City has been depicted as an ageless and nameless entity called the Soul. The Soul enlightens the path of spiritual knowledge to four individuals named Aditi, Vaidehi, Virat, and Karthik.

According to the author, one can easily absorb the knowledge from personal experiences rather than a slight performance of scriptural awareness. If those experiences are favorable we term them as good, and the unfavorable experience we relate to as bad. Our internal dialogues rule our lives, and external thoughts manifest from the ego. This book helps you to nurture positive thoughts and assist you to live a healthy spiritual lifestyle.

The narration is smooth. The author's lexicon is majestic. I can't find a single flaw in her writing. I really admire Hema's work and writing style. One should definitely read this reflective piece. I recommend this book to everyone but if you are into spiritual stuff then must read this book.

The Deep Tunnel: An Andromeda Brown Novel by Adam Alexander

Go to review page

4.0

The Deep Tunnel by Adam Alexander is the second book in The Andromeda Brown Series. The plot based on alien invasion on Earth where three kids try to stop an attack. I really like the cover page. The title is simple and goes perfectly with the storyline.

The main character Andromeda Brown, DeMarcus, and Mhairi are 13 years old. They fought with Kulrada (evil aliens) in the previous book The Shifter's Trail. In this book, the author continues their story by showing their school life struggles. The kids lead two lives one with humans and other with Grrrmmbls (their friend from another planet and mortal enemies of Kulrada).

Everything goes perfectly, but the city suffers a sudden rash of earthquakes. Meanwhile, the conspiracy of viral videos of a fortune-teller named The Mother Confessor makes things worse. Two people found dead in the deep tunnel near the lake. Everyone is making different assumptions, but no one knows the real reason.

In the series of events, Andromeda learned the truth about her mother's death, and it breaks her little heart. The Kulrada robot keeps an eye on the kids. The Grrrmmbls face the after effect of an earthquake which made them weak. The kids were the only hope to save the world. The 13 years old teenager faces the aliens again with the help of their friends. The story is fast-pacing. The language is simple and eloquent. There are no grammatical errors. The author did justice with the characters. This is my first read of this author, and I really like her way of narration. It's in chronological order and uniform. The story is gripping.

Dr. Mann's personality is of a wicked and stubborn woman. I like the way the author describes her. But I feel the nannybot character is a little bit sloppy. Adam Alexander wrote this series keeping the children in mind. If you didn't read the first book in the series, no worries, you'll definitely catch up the things in this one as I did because of the author's detailed illustration. It's a good and recommendable read.

If We Ever Meet Again: I Shall Take Her Back to the Start by Shabaz Qazi

Go to review page

4.0

If we ever meet again, I shall take her back to the start is a debut book by Shabaz Qazi. The genre is fiction, and plot based on an imperfect love story. The cover page gives a general idea about the hospital and the distance between the characters. It goes fine with the title and story-line.

The main characters are Rehan Siddiqui, a law intern in London. Naina Rai a law student lives in Delhi. Rehan was Naina's senior, and both meet at the law school. For Rehan, it was love at first sight, but for Naina, Rehan is just a friend (so-called brother). Rehan leaves India but visits continuously for Naina's sake which she never appreciates. The story revolves around Rehan's infatuation for Naina which somehow turned into an obsession, and change Rehan into a whole new person.

According to Rehan, love only happens once not twice and thrice. But Naina never felt any need of falling in love with anybody. She's one of those girls who blocked every boy who propose to them. While Rehan deals these things with maturity and keeps in touch with her ex-girlfriend Saira. They have different personalities and temperament which clashes most of the time. In turn of events, when Rehan confessed his love, Naina felt betrayed which mangles their relationship forever.

The story amazes me from the starting point. Shabaz Qazi includes quotes of different personalities at the end of each chapter. The twist and turns are well devised. But the characters are one-dimensional. The author didn't do justice with other characters, especially the female protagonist. Rehan's character over-shadows others. Few paragraphs (two to be precise) are repetitive. The language is simple and error-free. It's a short read, but as a reader, I wanted more. The narration is craggy and lopsided. But still, I feel a connection with Rehan and Naina's conundrum relationship.

The author did well and made me laugh at a few places. I even felt that I read a genuine love story. Sometimes, I hate Rehan's character and felt pity for Naina's. The story is thought-provoking and hooked me at the end. This book is a tic-o-treat for newbies and light shady romance lover. I would recommend this book and hope to read a sequel of this one someday.
