These Kindred Hearts is a fun YA Romantasy collection. This anthology brought together 17 BIPOC authors and there was a great range of representation across cultures, races, and genders. All of the stories feature love and fantasy elements. These stories were all romantic and if I was a teen while reading them I would have gobbled them up and loved every second. As an adult I can tell that some of the stories were not the greatest, and definitely a bit cheesy. But overall, it was still a very interesting read. It’s an easy book to pick up when the mood strikes as the short story format makes it easy to get through as much or as little as you want each time.

Thank you to Zando and NetGalley for the arc

FMC was insanely cringey and unlikable. She’s taking a theater class in college and said she had no idea what Shakespeare was talking about and she chat gpt’d the whole theater class. Big yuck. There’s also a horrible me too movement joke and a side character saying he was only nice to the lesbian neighbors in hopes that they’d let him become their third. The FMC and MMC shared one acting scene for 2 min 5 years ago and were supposed to believe anything happened after that? They weren’t even in the same class the whole semester, he joined the other class for one day to test early
