This was a wild ride! I was expecting a light hearted manga from the cover, but this was a fun gory read. The artwork is beautiful, the main characters really mattered to me, and the story intrigued me. The story follows a supposedly emotionless killer named Gabimaru who’s chosen along with a group of criminals to find an elixir of immortality on a mythical island in order to earn his freedom. There were some pages that shocked me in the best way, and some pages that moved me with emotion. I just really loved this one. I’m rating this four stars, however, because there were certain panels where I was unsure as to what was happening due to the artwork.

Overall, I enjoyed reading this one and look forward to reading the second volume when it’s released in English. I recommend this to any fans of manga; specifically horror and fantasy.

What a great start to the series! It’s hard to review Vol. 1 of The Promised Neverland without giving spoilers to the series. I even recommend going in to the manga without reading a synopsis for the best reading experience. It’s beautiful, it’s dark, and it’s just so well done. The artwork also blew me away, especially in the transition pages. I have nothing but good things to say about this unique manga and I can’t wait to read Vol. 2.

I fell in love with the Demon Slayer anime, and now I’ve fallen in love with the manga as well. This first volume was a great start to the series! The artwork is beautiful, the characters are wonderful, and the story is so enjoyable to read. Tanjiro is just the best boy! I can’t wait to read volume 2.

Wow, what a cute graphic novel! It has such diverse representation including a disabled character, POC, and LGBTQ+ characters. I was not expecting the feels this middle grade story gave me. The world this is set in is so interesting and I can’t wait to read more from this series! I especially loved the themes of carrying on tradition, friendship, and love. Also, the artwork is absolutely stunning! I can’t recommend this one enough to people of all ages.
