Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow by Gabrielle Zevin
4.0
Absolutely loved everything about this book. The characters. The nostalgia of growing up in the 80’s and the games that were released from then up to the 2000’s. The ebb and flow of lifelong friendships. The art and stories that go into making a game. All of this wrapped up in a story that ultimately is about love and how people share that love with others. Amazing writing by Gabrielle Zevin.
Nettle & Bone by T. Kingfisher

Emily Tesh said it best “T. Kingfisher uses the bones of fairy tale to create something entirely her own.”
Marra isn’t very smart, she isn’t very pretty, and she isn’t very talented. But what this princess has that endears her to me is her grit, her perseverance, and her faith in her friends. I loved reading about this little group as they wound their way through this creepy, gothic, fairy tale! The perfect Fall book!

Thank you to NetGalley for the e-ARC.
Revenge, a diamond heist, and dragons. This was like reading a fun D&D campaign which is no surprise as that is what Jenn Lyons is known for.
Anahrod, wrongly accused as a child and hunted by dragons, is hiding in the deep jungles away from the mountains the dragons consider their dominion. She is pulled back into Skylander politics by a fiery red headed dragon rider who plots revenge against her family’s killer. Their common enemy is a dragon and the current ruler, Neveranimas.
The banter was reminiscent of Firefly, a found family full of inside jokes and jabs.
What lost me was the pacing and how goofy the characters were, I wasn’t expecting it at all and is probably more a me problem. I can definitely see this being a favorite of many.

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

While Children of Blood and Bone is technically a young adult novel it deals with many heavy themes of loss, torture, and trauma.
Orïsha is a lush and vivid world inspired by the Yoruba culture and West African mythology. I highly recommend the audiobook, Bahni Turpin swept me away.
The King has found a way to suppress magic and has been killing all maji and enslaving the white haired divîners who might show any hint of magic. Zélie and her brother Tzain are struggling to meet the growing taxes and care for their father while dealing with the trauma of seeing their mother killed.
We also follow Princess Amari, who is slowly discovering just how cruel her father has become, and her brother Prince Inan, captain of the guard.
Book one ended on such a shocking cliffhanger I am so happy I have book two ready!!

Why haven’t I read these sooner? I loved this. I loved the pacing, the characters, the setting, the politics. 5⭐️ across the whole board. Except the dogs. That was just mean.
