This is not a romance novel. This is a master craft in character study. We take such a deep dive into Regan and Aldo’s personalities it was like sifting through someone’s brain. I could hear their thoughts and feel them flip through emotions before settling on the right one.
I found so much of myself in both Regan and Aldo. This is why I love to read. To know there’s someone out there who feels and thinks and sees the way I do. How beautiful and weird the human mind is!
I can’t give this the perfect five stars because no brain is perfect, at times I was confused or the story felt disjointed but it could have been purposefully so. I understand how this won’t be for everyone but it was definitely for me.

Megan O’Keefe doesn’t play around!
This book grabbed me from chapter one, the stakes are high and the characters were dynamic. I loved the setting and the slow unraveling of the mystery behind the planet declines.
I got lost near the end with where things are going but hoping book two will answer my questions.
It hit me while reading this that the last time I loved two characters this much was Dance of Thieves!

I loved to hate these characters!! I can absolutely see this being a set up for another book but honestly it stands up on its own!
In the classic Victoria Schwab writing style this book is full of amazing imagery, characters that jump off the page, and dark twisty magic.

Thank you NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the e-arc!
I had such a great time with this book! A quicker, character driven read that didn’t have much for world building which isn’t always a bad thing.
Sai is so adorable I loved his character and watching him grow and discover more about himself.
The pacing was a little off and I felt lost in the middle and after the climax near the end but all in all this was so much fun!

A beautiful merging of history and myth!
Shauna Lawless has shared her Ireland in such a way that not only was I learning the history but also the culture.
We follow two women of opposing magics while they weave through the lives of the mortals.
Gormflaith is one of the last of the Fomorian, an un-aging people with fire magic. She is ambitious and ruthless, her goal is to see her mortal son a King and to bring the fall of the Tuatha Dé Danann, enemy of her people.
Fódla is a healer of the Tuatha Dé Danann, a supernatural race of Irish myth. She is fearful, meek, subservient to her leader Tomas, and is in mourning of her mortal daughter Aoife. She is sent to spy on King Brian of Munster which she only agrees to in order to help her sister.
I loved seeing Irish history through the eyes of these very different characters. Cannot wait for book two!!

Wow what an end to the first trilogy!
I loved this book and was with Robin Hobb the whole way until around the last three chapters. Things went awry and I’m still not sure how we got here.
I will absolutely be continuing but yeah. That was weird.

Thank you so much Maggie for sending me an e-ARC to read!

People are born with a mark that leads them to their purpose in life. Unfortunately Ira is covered with them and no one knows why. She is pushed into a world full of dark magic and demons hunting for her.

The magic was different and well developed, the dialogue was so good (and at many times really funny), and the characters were easy to love.
The pacing slowed down quite a bit midway. I did get lost in the world building and the events near the end but I’m chalking that up to Ira learning things along with the reader.

Looking forward to book two!
