I can’t believe I’m saying this, but…this book was a slog. It could have been half as long. And the end just…ugh. I dread how the next book is going to go.

THIS. BOOOOOOOOK. This might be the best book I’ve ever read. An ode to the liminal. An ode to stories. An ode to words and tattoos and love and family. A condemnation of powerful men and racism. The spirit of Doc Five lives in these pages. The subtle references to Terry Pratchett and NK Jemisin!

What an incredible conclusion to the series. I adore Ross’s storytelling and the way she writes characters and their relationships. So much love and community shines through in these pages.
