Rock Paper Scissors by Alice Feeney

Rock Paper Scissors is a multi POV on a husband and wife who go on a secluded getaway to try and fix their broken marriage. Deep secrets start to unfold continually as the story progresses. This isn’t necessarily a sit at the edge of your seat intensively reading thriller but definitely takes you on a roller coaster ride. I enjoyed it while it lasted but by 85% in I was ready for it to wrap up and be over.

NET GALLEY ARC: 3.5 Stars for Iron-Bound Flames. OVERVIEW: This YA fantasy is about a young lady, Meera, who volunteers to care for two prisoners, one a reak which is a fire breathing dragon like animal and two a mysterious man. Upon caring for the prisoners she is called upon to complete other tasks for her king. Meera is faced with the challenge of taking orders from her king or listening to her heart, if she listens to her heart that is pure treason. This is book 1 of a 5 series book.

REVIEW: I appreciate the world building didn’t overtake the character development. I connected with all of the characters and they felt like real people to me, including the raek. The beginning and end of the book really held my interest to know what’s to come, however, the middle fell a little short as her quest to care for the prisoners seemed repetitive. There was a lot of indecisive inner thoughts which was repetitive. The story holds some valuable lessons like true friendship, staying true to yourself, dealing with loneliness and dealing with consequences of your actions. I will definitely give book 2 a read as I feel this is where the story REALLY begins as I got a little taste of it at the end. This book is very YA so no smut or romance, which may come later in the story though. Also a slow read as it’s a series.

3 stars for An Education in Malice. Romance, LGBT, Vampires.
An Education in Malice is a vampire romance story that follows a college poetry professor and her star pupil and her newly recruited pupil. When the professor is confronted with her past lover she needs to choose her old life or new life, all while she watches her star pupil develop a life she once lived.
I absolutely love the writing style S.T. Gibson rewarded us in this book. The sophistication and dark academia “stage setting” was perfection. When I initially read the description of this book I was excited to not just see a basic vampire story since it said it had some dark magic, and I was highly disappointed to not fall upon any dark magic. This is your typical vampire love story executed in great writing.
You will love this book if you love:
LGBT romance
Classic Vampire retelling
Semi enemies to lovers

From the very first sentence in Butcher & Blackbird I was HOOKED. I never thought I would crave to have a romance with a serial killer until now. I wanted to flail helplessly in my bed in a fit this love wasn’t mine.
Butcher & Blackbird follows two notorious serial killers who join in on an annual hunting game and create an untouchable bond. The story develops at a great pace and the characters are so easy to love even with their faults. The last 25% or so was pretty much pure smut which isn’t my taste but it really did wrap the story together.

A Dance of Fates is a book about Selene who is demi-fae born for one thing and one thing only; to serve the goddess of her demands for Selene to be a temptress. You follow Selene from this lonely life into one she finds love, friends and enemies.
I loved this book so much it had me laughing, crying and angry! The author did a great job at developing the characters to connect with them. I enjoyed the plot twists and the banter was

AUDIOBOOK REVIEW: ARC from NetGalley. 3 stars for The Glass Box. If you enjoy books that are: Reflective, Slower paced and Hopeful you may like this book.
The Glass Box follows Riley, a protester who gets sent to a ARC program (equivalent to a mental health establishment) due to her unlawfulness of protesting. During this story Riley is faced with challenges of manipulation and gas lighting from the head parts of the program. During her stay she makes friends with other protesters as well as people on the inside that helps her expose the wrong doing of the program.
I’m giving this 3 stars since it was a decent book and I feel some people may enjoy this more than myself. I would have liked to read about how the corruption is affecting others outside of the 5? People in the ARC program. You get a small glimpse of a protest interference during the end but would have preferred that maybe at the beginning to give me some emotional depth to the story.

I received this book as a EARC from NetGalley: 3 stars for The Honey Witch. You will like this book if you like slow paced, cozy, lighthearted fairytale like stories.
The Honey Witch follows Marigold, a honey witch in training, as she learns self discovery and love. Marigolds curse to accepting her position as the honey witch is no one can fall in love with her. Throughout this story friendships are formed and refound. Marigolds want to escape her curse gets herself and her friends in trouble they never expected.
Im rating this book 3 stars for reasons that others may LOVE this book. It was slow paced and your typical fairytale. When big events happened it was like BOOM EVENT, no anticipation or build up. It’s a sweet story and I can appreciate it.

AUDIOBOOK: I should have paid closer attention before reading this book as it’s for a much younger audience than myself (32). I think this would be great for high school / new collage age.
I ended up DNFing this book. It was too catty and drama filled for me to continue.

2024 edition review: note: I have not read any previous published editions of Gothikana.
3.5 stars for Gothikana. This was a struggle for me to rate a little since I really enjoyed the plot and the toxic dark romance. However, there are some faults with this book that I feel I couldn’t just recommend this book to everyone.
There are some cringe worthy parts along with some parts that I’m just like
