Crazy Salad and Scribble Scribble: Some Things About Women and Notes on Media by Nora Ephron

love nora ephron endlessly but this collection was very of the time, especially within scribble scribble where she talked about figureheads in politics and the media that i am frankly just not familiar with almost 50 years later. still had a fun time listening on audio though, and some of the stories were particularly interesting!! i love how her voice is so distinct that you can recognize it across genres — journalism, essays, plays, movies, etc etc. excited to pick up more by her :)

“on this land, it’s the strongest who survive” (276) DAMN this was heavy and took me forever to get through but it was so moving. absolutely loved every minute of it.

i mostly picked this up because i’m going through a bachelor phase and hannah b’s season is simply the best, but i was pleasantly surprised by this memoir! by no means is it revolutionary, but it was a good balance of personal experience and making sense of it, and bachelor drama 🤌 perfection.
also i never really read from the perspective of white cishet christian woman, but honestly reading about her complicated relationship with faith specifically but also other things like her mental health and going to therapy despite her parents not believing in it was really insightful and frankly relatable, even if we’re coming at it from different perspectives.
