Shopgirl by Steve Martin

For 130 pages this took a little too long to read. I could myself reading 20 pages a time on my breaks at work. All I have to say is meh. It was truly an okay read. I liked Steve Martin's narrative voice but the characters were lack luster. And there really wasn't much plot. I guess I was lumping this short novella in with the likes of Breakfast at Tiffany's so my expectations were not at all met. If you've got nothing to do on a day you're feeling particularly sad give it a read. Borrow it from a library or a friend. Don't pay more than 5 bucks for your read. Nothing prolific nothing problematic simply meh.
Fifty Shades of Grey by E.L. James

It was okay. I don't think it was as problematic as everyone says. The whole time Ana argues his rules which she should have and intimately realizes how fucked he is. An easy read perfect for rainy or in my case snowy days an pedicures. Light a candle, make some tea, soak your feet you'll get through it in no time.
Wasteland by Francesca Lia Block

An easy read, I read this book at my kitchen table with about 2 cups of coffee. It was insightful and deep but hard to follow because it switches from the sisters perspective to the brothers. Pretty good but nothing's ground breaking. I needed a quick read to numb my mind as it's getting close to the end of the semester.
Paper Towns by John Green

Powerful read, I really enjoyed it. Having just graduated college I feel like If I had read this a few years ago I would have been enthralled with the characters. However once again John Green captures characters so realistically I can't help but continue thinking about them.
What Light by Jay Asher

This was an absolute delight to read, perfect for the holidays which is exactly what I wanted. The characters were easy to fall in love with and the storyline was fun. I liked curling up with this book after a long cold winter day and enjoying a glass of wine and devouring chapter after chapter. As a 23 year old man I will say it's not the most intellectual read but I thoroughly enjoyed it and think it's going to become a Christmas classic! I also think it would be perfect for younger readers around the holiday season.

Oh my goodness, this book made me feel every single feeling. I can't recommend it highly enough! I love and loathe every character without guilt which is rare. I will absolutely be keeping this around to pick up again. Beautiful language and narration. The descriptions were so vivid and stunning.
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle

Very good book, especially for the kiddos! I found myself wanting more detail but I very quickly realized that this book is a decent amount below my typical level. The plot and characters were enjoyable. I can't lie I mostly picked this up on a whim as a quick read because I remember reading this in school haphazardly and enjoying it. When I found out they were re making the movie with Oprah I decided to give it a go! Definitely work a read if you're looking for a breezy couple day thumb through!
The Little Book of Hygge: The Danish Way to Live Well by Meik Wiking

Absolutely delightful! Such a cute cafe and bath read. I loved this book and I can't wait to pass it along to a friend and spread the hygge! Very aesthetic and fun. Light hearted but definitely important. I plan on incorporating some of the cute ideas and things in learned from reading this treasure.
Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I adored this book from start to finish! Very relatable and well written. I loved the characters and their interactions. I felt the exact same things when I was 17. This book breaks down barriers and goes places that are important without making it seem forced or trivialized. I think this is a must read for any teenager and could see it quickly becoming a classic. It's witty, funny, and heart warming without any of she cheesiness of books that typically fall into that line. Definitely will read again and one that's worth keeping on the shelf!
