Compared to the previous book in the series, this one surprised me with the main lead's character development, most notably the relationship she has with her mom. It was really sweet and thoughtful? For a book centered around smut with basilisk men, I honestly wasn't expecting it. The spicy scenes were certainly spicy but not annoyingly cringe compared to the Gargoyle one. I enjoyed it.
