I found the second book in the series harder to stick with than the first. It's slower, denser, and there's a lot of information. I found myself more interested in Nassun's story than the 'main' story. The last 25%-ish is where it really picks up. I'll probably read the third book but I think I'll give the series a break before picking it up.
I picked this book based on it winning the 2018 Goodreads Choice award for horror. This is NOT a horror book at all. If I had to categorize it, I would probably pick "weird fiction". It is unlike any other story by King that I've read, so if you are looking for a dose of classic King this is not it. It's not a bad story, though it is a bit heavy-handed as other reviewers have mentioned. At the end of it, I just felt...empty. Not unsatisfied, but kind of like "wait, that's it?"
I'd recommend this book for someone who needs to kill a few hours but doesn't want to devote a lot of energy to it.
