I actually cried for Eva. Her story is so heart wrenching. This book has far more action than the first and as first it was a little messy but it gets it together by 30% and the story really flows from there. Kace is okay as a MMC, he's really broody and has a traumatizing backstory that I don't think we get enough into. I did really enjoy this and I can't wait to get to the next one!

I really like the lore in this book and I want so much more of it. The characters are pretty interesting and it was easy to fall in love with the FMC. The MMC was a little rough and pretty unlikeable until the end but I want a deeper dive into back stories. I felt like we could have gone much deeper to create a stronger bond to these characters but I did like them. Back story and world building are just my favorite parts of anything, really. I'm a big paranormal romance fan and this has some similarities but that is natural when writing about specific things, but this author's take on specifically magic is new to me and I’d love to explore that more as well.

This is a beautiful telling of human complexities. It is so many things at once. I wrote a lot about this on my Instagram but this book can be triggering for some. I’m some. It hurts. 5 stars
