This was a little more angsty than anticipated, with a heavy lack of communication that made me want to scream. There was a lot to love here too though, and it introduced an abundance of new characters that I loved and ended so well that I forgave the angst it took to get there.
Bi awakening, pining, friends to lovers… I devoured this one. Loved the characters, loved their friendship and banter and hijinks. I wish we’d gotten so see a little more of Jamie’s family, cause they seemed like a blast, but what we got was lovely.
The hockey camp simmer vibe was something that I initially expected to dislike, but with them being coaches during the camp it was a unique take that I really enjoyed. This whole book was laugh out loud fun; with minor angst at times, but overall it was happier than it was angsty!
I had a hard time getting into this one, the first quarter feeling too close to cheating for my personal enjoyment. But it never crossed that line and by the second quarter of the book, I was hooked and had a great time.
Luke’s family situation was rough, and there’s a decent bit of angst there, but it doesn’t linger too much in the angst, thankfully.
Luke and Keaton put time and effort into their relationship, which I love. It doesn’t come easy and they earn their happy ending.
Wish You Weren’t Here is a YA (16yr old protagonists) summer adventure featuring a summer camp, a friend group, and frienemies to lovers romance. Emotionally, this book felt younger than I expected, with a lot of teen angst and drama. The writing was fun and funny, which helped keep the mood light and enjoyable. Overall, this was a great young summer read with lovable characters and laugh out loud moments.
Love a book with good demi rep. This is adorable, laugh out loud funny, and so heartwarming. There were some tense moments, but the book is low angst and an easy and enjoyable read.
Loved this one! Slowish burn, coming out, low angst, found family…this hit so many good feels all the way through. There was a lack of comeuppance for someone who really deserved it, but overall this was a lovely feel good read
Single, widowed, dad athletic trainer meets a guy in a bar who turns out to be not only his neighbor, but also one of the hockey players on his new team.
This was sweet, and full of feels. It oozed hockey, but lacked any in depth team interactions outside of the two main characters. This was still a great time and overall heartwarming and sweet.
