Lauren and Lucky by Kelly McKain

I read this for the booktubeathon for the Read a book outside challenge and it was ok. I don't like the series as much as I did when I first read it but I do think it is a quick and enjoyable read

More of a 3.5 upon my reread - 2024.
I did love this book but it did feel as though I would have loved it even more if Greystripe and Silverstream hadn't been such a big part.

The Last Piece of My Heart by Paige Toon

This book was amazing and I recommend it to anyone who loves contemporaries. I loved the relationship with Charlie and April as well as Bridget's relationship with April
Warriors Super Edition: Bramblestar's Storm by Erin Hunter
4.75
I think that this book is more of a 4.75 since I loved it but the only problem I had was that the Flood and storm dragged out too much (without feeling necessary for the plot)

I started this book so long ago that I can't really remember the beginning of it so this review may not be as complete as it probably would be otherwise
I started reading this before I read the first book (because I couldn't find the first book no matter where I looked) and I hadn't watched the film so I had no idea what the series was really about
As soon as I read the synopsis I knew that I was intrigued and was quickly hooked within the first few chapters
I would say that my favourite characters in the book were definitely Christian and Rose, something that the movie also made me realise. I also shipped them, something else that the movie just made happen more for me
I also liked Lissa in this book even though she wasn't really one of my favourite characters, along with Dimitri
Overall I did enjoy this book and I will continue with this series so look out for reviews and my thoughts on the other books

Angus, tange i ljubljenje s vatanjem by Louise Rennison

I read this book at the beginning of the year so I can't really remember much about my thoughts on the book but I do know that I ended up enjoying it
This is kind of one of my guilty pleasure series along with the film as it is always something that can make me smile and the main character has a great sense of humour
Plus Robbie is a definite book boyfriend

The Accidental Life of Jessie Jefferson by Paige Toon
5.0
This book was amazing and was one of my favourite reads of 2016, it was the first book that I read by Paige Toon and it ended up being the one that set of me wanting to read al of her books that she had out
It focuses on a teenager who has spent her life not knowing who her dad is, and she doesn't think that she will ever know until one day her mum died in a tragic accident. She then finds out that her dad is the famous rockstar Johnny Jefferson (book boyfriend material) and she goes to spend the summer with him in LA
As I said before this book ended up being one of my favourite reads and even though it sounds cliche from the synopsis there are so many things that make it different and unique
Johnny and Meg were two of my favourite characters as well as Barney bad Phoenix. I didn't like Jessie too much in this book but I would say that she does improve a lot in the next two books
Overall this is definitely a book that I would recommend, whether you usually like contemporary or not, it is one of the best that I have read and I hope you love it just as much as I do

Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
4.0
I should point out that I am not a fan of books about vampires is I was hesitant going in to this book, knowing little to nothing about the plot
As I said in my Frostbite review I read this book after getting about a third of the way through Frostbite
This didn't affect my reading of the book too much but I would say that the prologue does contain spoilers for the plot twist at the end of the first book
I think that one of the first things that I should mention is the movie which is one of my guilty pleasure films and I love to watch as many times as I can
I should also mention that personally I think that it is a good book to movie adaptation, of course it isn't perfect but what film ever is
I think that most of my thoughts on the book are the same as the second book in the series at least with the characters
I did really enjoy this book but I would say that after reading part of Frostbite first I realised the the start of this is slow, but there is also a lot of action
Overall I would recommend this series even though I don't normally like paranormal novels, especially ones with vampires in

Girls in Love by Jacqueline Wilson
2.0
I will admit that I did read this book so long ago that I can't really remember what happens in it but I do remember that I didn't enjoy it as much as I hoped
I love books by Jacqueline Wilson, especially her teenage ones since they are slightly more aimed towards my age range than her younger books
I have watched most of the series that they made based on these books but I watched it so many years ago
The characters are relatable and I would say that this is one of the only things that stopped me from rating this book one star, I didn't like the plot sine I didn't really think that they had one
And I probably won't continue on with the series even though I do own the next three
I wouldn't recommend this book and I have many other Jacqueline Wilson books that I could recommend that you read instead of this one

When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit and Bombs on Aunt Dainty: From Berlin to VE Day by Judith Kerr
5.0
I'm not usually someone who reads historical fiction even though I do enjoy it. But this book has become one of my favourite books that I have read
It is a novel set in WWII which already made me think that I would enjoy it as I like anything set in this time period
The second thing that I enjoyed about it the most was the fact that the main character loves art which is something that I was also interested in at the time
This book is one of the few that managed to make me cry as I read it (not spooling which bits did that to me)
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical fiction, especially The Book Thief since I personally enjoyed this book a lot more than that one.
Don't let the fact that it is aimed at younger children put you off, the writing style doesn't reflect that at all
