Duet narration performed by Mollie Stark & Jason Clarke

Trauma trauma trauma!
Jonah and Claire have so much trauma and both struggle in different ways. He’s the “spare parts” child struggling with years of feeling unloved and unwanted. She’s suffering with an eating disorder and isolation from her family due to poor decisions she made in The Next Life Duet. She’s also Jonah’s PR manager and his dad’s mistress.

The tension was delicious. The forbidden aspect made for some excellent drama. The trauma was sad and the lashing out made my heart hurt for them both.

Mollie and Jason both delivered incredible performances. The emotions they exuded during some really intense scenes made those scenes hit extra hard.

Thank you so much Brit & The Author Agency for the ALC

Duet narration performed by Lucy Rivers & Aaron Shedlock

• Bodyguard • Friends with Benefits • Disability Rep • Pierced MMC • Plus Size FMC •

I’m obsessed with this series! I love all the characters and it’s so fun to see the mains from previous books pop back up!

Stevie and Brooks are so lovable. Stevie is the lead piercer at Hel’s Ink and Brooks is the shop crew bodyguard. Stevie has experienced the worst of being a woman in a male-dominated industry and suffered at the hands of her mentor. She also suffers from debilitating endometriosis. Brooks has nothing but love to give, if only she’ll let him in.

These two are perfect together. Brooks takes care of her in a way Stevie has never experienced and he does it all with zero expectations or making her feel shame. Their friends with benefits situationship straddles the relationship line before they realize it, but Stevie’s past trauma is a barrier.

Lucy and Aaron were perfectly cast as Stevie and Brooks. Truly a pleasure to listen to them go through all the emotions these two characters experience. Excellent performances!

Can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend the whole series.

Dual narration performed by CJ Bloom & Sean Masters

• Billionaire • One Night Stand • Accidental Pregnancy • Degradation • Angsty •

CJ Bloom was the perfect sassy that was needed to play fiesty Ruby. And Sean is always a pleasure to listen to, but he does so phenomal with the pissed off, dominate, possessive MMCs like in this book. Both actors have phenomenal performances, including the opposite gender voices.

Kane and Ruby first met each other as Kyle and Rachel. They both experienced the best night of their lives together but can’t reconnect due to neither having given their real names. They accidentally run into each other 6 months later and Ruby can’t hide what resulted from their one unforgettable night.

The chemistry is off the charts for these two. Much of their relationship is physical, but we do get to see a bit of tenderness from Kane and Ruby has to work to open up. But Kane gets possessive fairly quick and shields Ruby from her toxic past when it comes back to haunt her. And the filthy talk that comes out of him during spicy time! 🥵

There were several things about Kane that were giant red flags and honestly, I felt like Ruby forgives him way too quickly.

For instance, him insisting on a paternity test even though he said he trusted her, him not talking to her for 3 days after finding out about her still being married and immediately assuming the baby isn’t his, him not sticking up for her when his brother was calling her very degrading things, him still even entertaining the idea of keeping Beth on as security after catching her up in Ruby’s face and talking down to her, him always assumes the worst from Ruby in regards to Cube (like by the car and in the hospital), and especially, the way he talks to Ruby after giving birth and Cube showed up. Ruby forgives him and moves on way too fast each time.

And one thing I found harmful to women in general that’s rooted in misogyny, was all the comments made about Ruby bouncing back so quickly after birth (within 6 weeks) and promoting the unhealthy and potentially harmful idea of getting back in the gym prior to the 6 week postpartum visit. The 6 week wait isn’t just for intimacy. This just perpetuates the idea that “bouncing back fast” is expected and normal when it’s not.

There were also a couple big reveals that lackluster - namely Kane’s past that was brought up twice and both times it was rather quickly revealed then glazed over and forgotten.

This one was a Proofread for me. BUT....

Omg, it was so good! Warning, do not read the week before your period starts if you're easily brought to tears that week! I cried more than once in this book and was literally sobbing at one part in particular!

Aurora and Jack are both so easy to fall in love with. They're complex and dynamic characters who are both very lovable, even when they're a little grumpy. Aurora is so witty, her comebacks are fast and perfect. The banter, not just between the two main characters, but with the side characters too, is so funny and feels very realistic. And the house that Aurora is renovating throughout the book feels very much like a character itself. Jack is just the epitome of book boyfriend!

The story was perfectly paced. It was told beautifully and I could hardly put it down. I just had to know what was going to happen and there was never a dull moment. It hooks your right from the beginning and the hooks never stop!

The details are EVERYTHING in this book! So many sweet moments between Aurora and Jack because of the details. Perfection!

Dual narration performed by Angelina Rocca, Michelle Sparks, & Stephen Borne

• Cinderella Retelling • FFM • Auction • Dark • Age Gap • Taboo (Step Sisters) • Virgin FMC • Primal Play • elements of BDSM •

This one was good! Really good! I love the Cinderella story in general, but this retelling/adaptation was very well done.

Instead of a ball, there’s an auction. Instead of Prince Charming, there’s a step-sister AND a mysterious benefactor. Instead of running down the stairs and losing her shoe, there’s a “play party” and a primal play chase.

I loved how the story unfolded and the accidental throuple that came about. Birdie, Violet, and Alaric all love each other and once they realize they don’t have to choose, the fun ensues. I loved it! Especially the two doms/one sub dynamic.

Angelina, Michelle, and Stephen were all perfectly cast! They all did an amazing job of keeping the characters consistent during their chapters and their opposite gender voices were really good!

Thank you, Sara Cate, for the ALC!
