this book is like...missing the whole beginning half extremely hard to follow and the themes (grief/homophobia in desi households) were not well addressed....really wanted to like this but too many mistakes to enjoy fully

mindy kaling WISHES she could write something as good as this...loved the commentary on body hair and the relationship it has with feminity and attractiveness in the brown community and the mcs journey with going against those norms? chefs kiss. on top of that the author had me rooting for a white man like thats crazy....

this book was so heartbreakingly beautiful....
I liked it all the way till the end...the disability being cured rubbed me the wrong way. 5 star read up until that point
the plot dragged so much...i didnt really feel for the characters either and it was taking me too long to read for the books page count. really sad cause i loved the authors miss marvel comics so much (kamala's my favorite superhero in the marvel universe btw).
